Our surgical teams travel to rural Honduras with the knowledge, the hands, and the heart, but they also need the tools. 🩺 That's why we've put together a shop with the exact supplies needed for this year's trip, and we're inviting you to go shopping!

Shop the store, choose the supplies you’d like to provide, and we’ll make sure they’re ready when the team begins caring for patients. Every item you fund is one piece closer to a completed surgery and a patient in need!

This Independence Day, we’re reflecting on the many forms freedom can take, including the freedom to see a doctor when you’re sick, to drink clean water, and to give every child the opportunity to grow up healthy.

We’re grateful for every volunteer, donor, and community partner who works alongside us to help make that possible in rural Honduras.

From our VHC family to yours, we wish you a happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Happy Father's Day to all the dads here at home and in Honduras, and to every father figure in between! Different continents, same kind of love: shown in the patience of teaching a child to ride a bike, in the quiet sacrifices nobody sees, in showing up again and again even when it's hard. Today, we're grateful for all of them.

Meet Paola Acosta, VHC’s Country Director in Honduras.

Since joining our team earlier this year, Paola has been working alongside community leaders, health workers, and partner communities to strengthen programs that improve health and opportunity in rural Honduras.

Her work has focused on expanding community outreach, leadership training, and community health education, while helping identify new ways to support students who have left school.

Paola’s commitment to local leadership reflects the heart of VHC’s mission: empowering Hondurans to build healthier, stronger communities. We’re grateful to have her on our team and excited about the impact she’s already making!

Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to others. At VHC, we’re reminded every day that compassion, commitment, and service have the power to change lives. Today, we pause to remember those whose sacrifice made that spirit of service possible.

Behind every healthy child is a mother who never stopped fighting for them. In the rural villages where VHC works, mothers are often the first to notice when something is wrong and the first to take action. They walk to clinics. They ask the hard questions. They show up, again and again, for their families and their neighbors. Today, we're honoring them. And we're honoring every mother in the VHC community who has shown up for communities they may have never met before and left a piece of their heart there anyway. Happy Mother's Day from all of us at VHC. 💐

Every year, nurses leave their routines, their families, and their comfort zones to volunteer in rural Honduras — and every year, they come back changed. The patients they serve don't forget them. Neither do we. This National Nurses Week, we're celebrating every nurse who has given their time and tremendous talent to VHC's mission. You make care possible where it's needed most. Thank you!! 💙💙

There are roughly 90 practicing ophthalmologists in all of Honduras. For a country of 10 million people, that gap is staggering.

VHC's Eye Care program (formerly Optical Care) works to close that gap, bringing vision screenings and eyeglasses directly to rural communities that would otherwise go without. Watch the video to see what that looks like on the ground.
