This exhibition is another part of SEMAP's agriCultural project where we are using the arts and culture to tell even richer stories of agriculture in our region. This exhibition features the work of farmers who are also artists, artists who are also farmers and artists that take deep inspiration from the world of agriculture.

In partnership with the New Bedford Art Museum, this show features over 25 artworks that look to uncover, tell, and shed light on the intersection of art, culture and agriculture in new and maybe unexpected ways! We hope you can join us!

🎨 WHO’S MAKING FALL RIVER?

Meet Tracy Silva Barbosa.

Today she’s the Executive Director of the Fall River Arts & Culture Coalition, but Tracy’s connection to art in this city goes back further than that.

And one of her Fall River projects was pretty damn cool.

Back in 2020, during the FABRIC Arts Festival, Tracy created “Waterfall Benediction.”

She projected a massive moving waterfall directly onto Fall River City Hall.

There was a reason for it.

The Quequechan River and its falls helped give Fall River its name and powered the early industry that helped build this city. Over time, those falls disappeared beneath mills, streets and eventually the highway.

For a couple of nights, Tracy brought the idea of that lost waterfall back into the middle of the city.

Not with concrete. Not by trying to recreate it.

With art.

A giant waterfall appeared across City Hall, visible from I-195 and from the streets below.

The Public’s Radio later interviewed Tracy about the installation. She explained that she wanted people to experience the Quequechan almost like she remembered it growing up, something that was there but also strangely hidden from view.

Fast forward to today and Tracy is now leading the Fall River Arts & Culture Coalition, working with artists, schools and organizations on projects happening throughout the city.

She also received a 2025 MassArt Common Good Award for her work using art and design in public life.

That’s the kind of person we want to dig into with “Who’s Making Fall River?”

Not just the names everybody already knows.

The artists. The builders. The business owners. The organizers. The teachers. The creators. The people quietly putting pieces of this city together.

Today, September 1, 2026, the Fall River Cultural Council (FRCC) officially opens its FY2027 grant application cycle!

If you’re an artist, cultural organization, nonprofit, educator, or community group with a project that brings arts, culture, creativity, and enrichment to Fall River, this is your opportunity to apply for funding.

📅 Application Opens: September 1, 2026�
⏰ Application Deadline: October 15, 2026�
📍 Eligible Project Dates: December 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027
