Our 112th birthday is one week from today, September 14, and we would love to celebrate it with you!

Are you familiar with VFW Auxiliary Cancer Grants?

The VFW Auxiliary offers cancer grants to members who are battling cancer.

Eligibility requirements:
• Applicant must be a member of the VFW Auxiliary for one (1) full year.
• Current dues must be paid before applying for a cancer grant.
• After twelve (12) months have passed from date of diagnosis or last treatment, application will not be accepted.
• A member is allowed two (2) grants during lifetime. Twelve (12) months must elapse between new diagnosis and/or treatment from date of first grant for a second application to be considered. Continuous treatment which lasts beyond the twelve (12) month period will qualify for a second grant.
• Application will be rejected if member has been deceased for longer than 30 days.

The grant amount is currently $550.00 and funds are paid directly to the member or, in the case of a deceased member, to their estate. Funds are dispersed 2-4 weeks following the acceptance and approval of the completed and signed application.

Please read the instructions carefully before submitting an application. The most common reason an application is denied is due to missing information from either the member or physician.

Parton, who passed away yesterday at the age of 80, was not only a singer, songwriter and movie star, she was the founder of Imagination Library; thanks to her, Imagination Library and their partner organizations, more than 304 million books have been given to children up to age five since 1995. Some of these titles are, or have previously been, included on our recommended reads list as part of Patriotism Through Literacy, our Youth Activities initiative.

There is some confusion about which scholarships and contests "belong" to which organization, so we've created this quick, handy guide to help keep it all straight!

Are you familiar with the VFW Store?

You can visit the VFW Store any time via their website, www.vfwstore.org, and shop for whatever you need as a VFW Auxiliary member. They have shirts, scarves, stickers, patches, jewelry, brochures, bags, pins, luggage tags, hats, tumblers, special coins, uniform caps, pens, name tags, coloring books for kids, lanyards, grave markers, Auxiliary supplies, VFW tartan and more.

Best of all, they aren't dropping links in the comments on our posts advertising AI-generated imaging of low-quality "printed" t-shirts that may or may not actually exist on websites designed to steal and sell your personal data, including credit card information. That's what SCAMMERS do, and we have been bombarded by their spam posts this week, with thousands of comments left on our past posts dating back nearly a year. DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS.
