Fairfield… we made it. After 30 days of countdowns, cast spotlights, neon‑bright rehearsal nights, and a whole lot of Muse‑level magic, Xanadu Jr. officially opens TONIGHT at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

✨ A cast of 36 brilliant young performers
✨ A live‑wire, roller‑disco comedy
✨ A community that shows up, lifts up, and glows up together

Tonight, we roll open the gates to Mount Olympus, Venice Beach, and pure 1980 joy — all powered by the most dedicated, hilarious, big‑hearted youth ensemble you could ask for.

🎭🛼1 Day to Xanadu Magic🛼🎭
Meet the Cast: Waverley Patton - Clio/Kira

Waverley Patton is 16 years old and is in 11th grade. She has done theater/acting since she was 9, her debut musical was in OCCP’s Annie Jr, as she has gotten older, she has moved on to Ottumwa High School shows, and OCP musicals, as well as her first season with AGPAF this summer. This is her first FYPA production. Some favorite roles she has played are Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Teen Fiona in Shrek the Musical and Anne Boleyn in Six the Musical. Waverley also enjoys being the lead social media person at her work for Ottumwa Fareway’s Facebook and Instagram. Waverley loves her other hobbies/activities such as baking, crocheting, show choir, tennis, 4H, and spending whatever free time she has with her two golden retrievers. She is so excited for this upcoming production of Xanadu Jr!

Director's Note: Waverley is as polished a performer as you could hope for in an 11th grader. Her breadth of experience in multiple organizations, playing a variety of roles, speaks to her professionalism and her passion for her art. Waverley has a bright future in acting and displays a natural affect either on stage or screen. Much of the ability to successfully become another character is rooted in an individual's level of comfort in simply being themselves, and Waverley gets this on an internal level. She has also become somewhat of a connoisseur of funny foreign accents from singing German mother to over the top bad Australian disco muse. We hope you have as much fun watching her as we have had working with her.

Meet the Cast: Trayton Schuster - Sonny Malone

Trayton Schuster was born February 18th, 2009, in Las Vegas Nevada. However, he has lived most of his life in the Mt. Pleasant area. This is his 9th ever production, performing many notable roles, including Shrek, Scuttle, and "Beefcake" Bill Austin in Mt. Pleasant's recent production of Mamma Mia. Tray is in love with the performing arts, being a part of the band, show band, jazz band, as well as the chamber choir and speech. He hopes to attend the University of Northern Iowa for a bachelor's degree in Instrumental music education, with plans of being a band teacher.

Director's Note: Tray is funny and oozing with personality. He has no fear, and can often be found making his cast mates laugh, whether intentionally or otherwise. He is a polished performer and a great example to our younger cast about how you can be confident, have fun and deliver amazing art all at the same time. Tray will be our ONLY cast member who we will age OUT of the program after Xanadu Jr., so see him now while you still have a chance... you WILL NOT regret it.

Meet the Cast: Zef Hennesy - Danny Maguire

Zef is a 15-year-old currently going into 10th grade. Zef has been in the performing arts for 4 years and plans to continue with a path in acting. You may recognize him from High/Middle school productions such as "Firebringer" or "Newsies," or from community theatre productions like "Peter Pan, the British Musical."

Director's Note: I was so thrilled when I learned that Zef was bringing his talent to the FYPA cast. He takes his business very seriously when in a production and is always prepared. He has a great sense of comedy, a humble ability to take direction and wrap his head around ideas, and his low range vocal talent will be the lowest thing you hear onstage.
