NSMS is now accepting applications for four $1,000 scholarships for medical students who demonstrate a commitment to improving public health, the practice of medicine, and/or the quality of patient care. Applications are due Friday, May 15th, and students must be members of the CMA to apply.

Another incredible Legislative Advocacy Day in the books! Thank you to the physicians who drove out to the state Capitol to help us advocate on behalf of the profession and more than 1,500 NSMS members! Special thanks also to Asm. Lori Wilson, Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Senator Christopher Cabaldon and their staff for taking the time to meet with us.

Physicians interested in pursuing elected office can gain practical, hands-on campaign training at the 2026 AMPAC Candidate Workshop, taking place April 17–19 in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by the American Medical Association, this bipartisan program helps physicians transition from the exam room to the campaign trail by building the skills and strategic foundation needed to run for public office.

The workshop is open to AMA physician members, residents, fellows, medical students, member spouses, and state medical society staff.

Registration deadline: March 20 (or sooner if capacity is reached).

Step forward, bring the physician voice to policymaking, and learn how to turn your experience in medicine into leadership in public service.
