Archie is just old enough that he doesn’t get the “puppy” attention but he id still very much a puppy at ❤️!

Archie is a year old and 40 lbs. He's a sweet guy that has had a rough start at life. Despite being chained outside and malnourished for most of his life 😢, he is super friendly with others and has so much love to give. He loves dogs, people, and has done well with cats.

He is still learning to trust people, and can be shy at first, but once he does he is a playful and cuddly pup. 🐶 He would do very well with a resident dog that can help build his confidence and play with him. He is making progress with house training and walking on a leash. 🙌 He's crate trained, smart and food motivated. He would love a home that continues to foster the safety, and trust-building that he deserves. With the proper patience, love, and guidance/training, Archie will be a loyal and wonderful life-long best friend. 😘🐕

How has no one fallen in love with this wrinkly face, tiny eared, beautiful boy⁉️

Honestly, when it comes to breed mixes, this could be the cutest one yet!

At 40 lbs, Banjo is a pint sized pup that thinks he’s one of the big boys. 🐕‍🦺 Banjo is about 3 years old and was found as a stray. He takes a minute to warm up to strangers, but once he knows you he will be your BF for life. 🤗 What we do know is that he is dog friendly, people friendly, loves his walks, play times, is crate trained, housebroken, and is learning leash manners. 🤩 He’s young, energetic, and still very puppy-like. 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone that donated to our quilt raffle!

We raised over $5,500 that will go directly to the vet care of Virginia’s most at-risk dogs. 🥰

Congratulations to Stacy Tignor for winning the most adorable Halloween quilt. 🎃 Not only did Stacy donate to our medical fund, but she is one of our amazing fosters (Queso and Jaq are currently lucky to be in Stacy’s care)! 🐕

Animal welfare quite literally takes a village, and without our donors, fosters, adopters, volunteers and followers, we would not be here. 😇 We appreciate everyone of you! ❤️

Hazelnut is 2 months old and 8 lbs. She was abandoned with a dozen other dogs and her littermates in Southern VA. Despite being let down by humans, she holds no grudges and is just happy that she's being given a second chance.

Hazelnut is the runt of her litter and such a cute little girl. She will let you know when it's time to eat, is getting good at going potty outside, and loves playing with her littermates. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has the sweetest personality.

We could really use your help‼️

To date, this year, we have spent over SEVENTY THOUSAND dollars 🤯 on vet bills.

Between routine costs like spay/neuter, vaccines and bloodwork, and unexpected costs like heart surgery, dentals, parvo, and specialists, we have racked up quite the bill. 😬

Unexpected costs, like these, really add up over time and have drained our medical funds. Now we need your help to build those funds back for the next emergency expense. 🙏

NPA is 100% volunteer and foster based. Every dollar we raise goes towards the dogs in our care. 🙌

Our Director’s Mom made this amazing quilt for NPA to raffle off in hopes of raising $10,000 to replenish our medial funds. 🥰

The raffle will be open until October 11th…just in time for the winner to get their quilt for Halloween decorating.👻🐶🎃

Introducing, Oswald! 🎉

Oswald was found as a stray in Southern Virginia. Sadly, he wasn't in great condition, when he was found and it appeared that he had either been hit or thrown from a car. 😭 He was covered in road rash and his teeth were broken.

Despite being let down by humans, Oswald holds zero grudges. 🤗 He is now all healed up and had his broken teeth pulled. He's around 5 years old and 20 lbs. 🐾

Oswald is an awesome dog and will do well in almost any adoptive home. 🥰 His foster reports that he's incredibly sweet, easygoing and a total couch potato. He's an amazing houseguest, he's housebroken, doesn't chew on anything that isn't a dog toy, and is very quiet. 🤩 He loves going on walks, is great with other dogs, and has learned to live peacefully with his foster mom's cat! 🐱

Oswald's mom said, "If I could pick the perfect home for Oswald, I would love for him to have another dog to play with and a yard where he can run around and pursue his lifelong dream of catching a squirrel.

He really is such a sweet, chill, social little guy. He has been incredibly easy to have in my home, and I think knowing what he is actually like day to day will help find the right family for him." ❤️🐶❤️

Jett is kind of a big “dill”! 🥒😂🐕

He sleeps through the night in my crate, enjoys exploring outside, and is learning to sit for treats.

UPDATE: Oscar has found a new home!

Oscar needs a hero! 🦸‍♀️

Oscar is a 3 year old dachshund who was adopted by his foster family in August. A few weeks later his legs gave out and he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). 😢 IVDD is a spinal condition that commonly affects dogs with long spines and short legs.

His foster family has been doing their best to rehab Oscar, but are dealing with some medical issues themselves. 🥺 Unfortunately, they don’t have the ability to continue to care for sweet Oscar.

We are hoping there is an amazing person out there with lots of love to give that is willing to help. 🙏Maybe someone who has had a dog with IVDD before. Or just someone who wants to give a sweet guy a chance at recovery. ❤️‍🩹

You know what makes a case of the “Mondays” 😞more bearable?

Puppies of course! 🙌

Reese is 4 months old and 15 lbs. 🐶 This sweet girl was found as a stray, and while we don't know what her past looked like, we know her future is going to be much better! 🥰

Reese is a very sweet girl who enjoys the company of other dogs. She's done really well with housebreaking and is learning how to walk on a leash.🤩 She can be fearful of new noises and things, but she is a quick learner. She is in a foster home with a young kid and has done well with her. She will happily sleep through the night in her crate as long as she knows you are close. 🤗

Reese will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to let her come out of her shell and learn all about being a dog.
