Fairfax Public Access is an independent, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that provides residents of Fairfax County and the Washington Metropolitan area the training and the tools to create non-commercial television and radio programming that expresses their viewpoints and perspectives to the community at large. As a public access media center, Fairfax Public Access does not exercise editorial
control over program content, unless the program contains commercial speech, obscenity or indecent content. Indecent content which does not rise to the level of obscenity is restricted to cablecast between 11 pm and 6 am, during which children are reasonably less likely to be in the viewing audience. Other program content is presented over Fairfax Public Access as if it were analogous to an "electronic soap box," providing free speech protection to program content, not subject to editorial control by Fairfax Public Access.
