What is something fun to do that involves little to no spending?

Window Shopping! Local stores always have some really cool things and it is definitely always fun to look around!

The real challenge is to have discipline to NOT buy things we don't really need just because we want it!

Here's KJ showing us how window shopping is done!

Look at the item, maybe hold it, and *maybe* put it back on shelf!

Here at CLA, we value Mental Health and sometimes, taking yourself out to lunch, no matter how simple it sounds, can tremendously affect the way you feel because if you think about it, it is a great form of self care!

You get to enjoy a meal you like and you take the time to enjoy yourself. Also, why not?!

Summer time is almost here and sometimes it actually feels like summer outside. AKL House is taking advantage of great weather for some backyard paint and color session!

Everyone looks very happy enjoying the nice weather and fun and simple activity in the comfort of their home!

As we get closer and closer to summer, going to local parks become a part of a new routine or even just something to do for the weekend! Here's PN, MB, and Eze C on their outing together at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA!

The pool and waterpark is still not open but they got to see and walk around the area which to us is also very fun!

CRI kicked off their 2nd annual Community Fest and CLA team made sure they made it to the event that was held in Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA last May 2, 2026.

"This event was an ideal way to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, in recognition of the important role that recreational therapy can play in fostering health and wellness" - as mentioned on the CRI website.

Everyone enjoyed food, drinks, activities, and each other's company!

Thank you to CRI for hosting this event that created a great sense of belonging!

Memorial Day was this past Monday and it is a day to remember the men and women in the US armed forces who lost their lives while in service it is also the unofficial start of summer and Pioneer house commemorated the day by a little get together with a Memorial Day party!

When Mandee and Elizabeth attended their local community fest, they also had the opportunity to make their own sand art!

Sand art is such a fun low stimulation and calming activity and it is known to relieve stress and anxiety!

Community Festivals are always fun because there are lots of vendors and activities that you don't usually see on a day to day basis! Mandee happened to meet a balloon maker at her local community fest on May 2, 2026 and she asked for a green dog and the balloon man was happy to make it happen for her!
