On Saturday, 22 August, The AFSFA Buckeye Chapter, in collabration with the Dayton Dragons, is thrilled to host the 2026 Sentinel Challenge!

Four elite military and law enforcement teams are stepping up to compete for the ultimate title of "Champion".

These Tactical professionals will be pushed to their limits across a grueling series of tactical, physical, and mental challenges:

Timed Ruck Endurance and load-bearing capacity
KIMS Observation and memory under stress
SLED Building Teamwork, heavy lifting, and logistics
TCCC Tactical Combat Casualty Care
Shooting Drills Precision and speed (Rifle & Pistol)

The battle doesn't end on the course! The top two teams will advance to American Heroes Night at DayAir Stadium, where they will put it all on the line in a head-to-head Push-Up Competition in front of a live crowd to crown the 2026 Champion!

🇺🇸 Service with a Purpose: SSgt. Michael Halloran

👋Meet Staff Sergeant Michael Halloran, a Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) fi****ms instructor with the 88th Security Forces Squadron at WPAFB.

Originally from Hopkinsville, Kentucky 🏡 Halloran spent a year working a civilian job before realizing he wanted something more. Nine years later, he’s found exactly what he was looking for!

Married with two young sons, Halloran says the Air Force has given him the opportunity to provide for his family while doing a job he genuinely loves.

“It’s the best job in the Air Force if you ask me. I get to work with weapons almost every day, but the most rewarding part is teaching. Watching Airmen go from struggling on the range to qualifying with expert scores—that’s what makes this job worth it.” 🎯

As a CATM instructor, Halloran builds confidence, develops lifesaving skills, and helps prepare Airmen for success across the force. With nine years of service already behind him, he’s committed to reaching a full 20-year career. ✈️
