What an inspiring experience attending the Robert L. Moody Awards from Moody Neurorehabilitation Institute and hosted by National Association of State Head Injury Administrators - NASHIA, in Houston, Texas, and seeing the remarkable impact that Dr. Steven Broglio has had in advancing the science and our understanding of brain injuries.

Progress in brain injury care begins with research, but its greatest impact is realized when that knowledge reaches individuals, families, and communities. Seeing leaders in this field recognized is a powerful reminder of how science can translate into better outcomes and brighter futures for those affected by .

We are also incredibly grateful to the Toyota Way Forward Fund for the generous invitation and, more importantly, for their tremendous support of the TBI Warrior Foundation’s pediatric brain injury program. Their investment is helping us extend support beyond the injury itself, supporting children and their families as they navigate recovery, rehabilitation, and the journey forward.

These are the people we serve every day.

They are Veterans, children, parents, spouses, athletes, accident survivors, and families. Their stories are different, but many share something in common: they are navigating a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that the world cannot always see.

They are the people who may look “fine” while struggling with headaches, memory loss, fatigue, confusion, changes in mood, difficulty concentrating, or simply feeling unlike themselves. They are the families learning how to navigate a new reality, often becoming caregivers, advocates, care coordinators, and sources of strength overnight.

Too often, they live in the shadows of an invisible injury, trying to explain what cannot easily be seen and searching for people who understand.

At the TBI Warrior Foundation, we see them.

We recognize the challenges. We recognize the pain, frustration, isolation, and uncertainty. But we also recognize something equally important: hope, and the possibility of a brighter future.

Recovery may not look the same for everyone. Sometimes progress is returning to work or school. Sometimes it is greater independence, reconnecting with family, finding the right care, or simply realizing, “I am not alone in this.”

That is why we walk alongside individuals with brain injury and the people who care for them, helping connect them to care, rehabilitation, education, resources, community, and one another.

Because behind every invisible injury is a very visible life worth supporting.

The TBI Warrior Foundation is preparing for our annual Honor the Brave event, a special evening dedicated to recognizing and celebrating Veterans for their service, sacrifice, and continued impact in our communities.

We are currently looking for raffle items, products, or services to help make this year’s event a success.

🧠 Brain Injury Prevention Starts with Awareness

Trampolines can be a source of fun and physical activity for children, but they also come with risks that families should understand.

According to recently compiled trampoline injury statistics, more than 100,000 trampoline-related injuries occur in the United States each year, with 90% involving children ages 5–15. Injuries to the head account for approximately 14.5% of reported trampoline injuries. (Springfree Trampoline USA)

At the TBI Warrior Foundation, we believe that preventing brain injury is just as important as supporting individuals and families after an injury occurs.

A few simple precautions can make a difference:

🔹 Allow only one jumper at a time
🔹 Avoid flips, stunts, and rough play
🔹 Always use appropriate safety enclosures
🔹 Regularly inspect equipment for damage
🔹 Provide adult supervision for children

❤️ Community recovery is not a moment. It’s a commitment.

When the devastating floods struck the Texas Hill Country, TBI Warrior Foundation stepped forward to help. But our commitment did not end when the immediate emergency passed.

We remain alongside our Hill Country neighbors, with a special focus on individuals with disabilities and older adults whose needs can too often be overlooked during long-term disaster recovery.

Through the generosity of the United for Kerr County Fund through United Way and collaboration with trusted community partners, including the Dietert Center, Kerrville, Genesis Counseling Center, and the The Ecumenical Center, we are helping connect individuals and families with:

💙 Behavioral health services
🤝 Continued community-based assistance

Recovery takes time. For someone who lost essential medical equipment, transportation, access to care, or a sense of security, the effects of a disaster can continue long after the headlines disappear.
