In honor of our bookfair happening later this month, we will be featuring our final Stuttering Book of the Week 📚🤩

Our third featured book is “Jayson Goes For It!” by Brayden Harrington and David Ritz. When Brayden was 13 years old, he received national attention as a person who stutters after delivering a speech at the Democratic National Convention urging people to vote for Joe Biden 🫶

🏀 Eighth-grader Jayson thrives on the basketball court with his friends, brushing off classmates who tease him for his stutter. But when his best friend Gloria is barred from the debate team because of her speech, Jayson realizes he must take a stand. This middle-grade debut explores the courage it takes to advocate for what is right, showing that any voice can make a difference.

We’re less than a month away from our second chapter meeting for NSA SEPA Family Chapter! 🧡

🍂 Kids and teens who stutter and their families are invited for an evening of watching “My Beautiful Stutter,” creating some fall-inspired arts & crafts, eating some yummy snacks, and more!

This is a chance to spend time with other kids and teens in the Philly suburbs who understand what it’s like to stutter and exist in a space where you can be yourself 💕

In honor of our bookfair happening later this month, we will be featuring a Stuttering Book of the Week 📚🤩

Our second featured book is “Just Ask!” by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor 🌸 Featuring a character who stutters, this is a beautiful book that celebrates differences as kids, all special in their own way, build a community garden together.

🌟 Using her own experience as a child who was diagnosed with diabetes, Justice Sotomayor writes about children with all sorts of challenges–and looks at the special powers those kids have as well. This book encourages readers to do the same: When we come across someone who is different from us but we’re not sure why, all we have to do is “Just Ask!” 🪴

In honor of our bookfair happening later this month, we will be featuring a Stuttering Book of the Week 📚🤩

Our first featured book is “Finn Finds His Voice” by Travis Althouse, Travis Althouse 🐠 This book was recently self-published by Travis, an SLP who stutters, about a little fish who feels out of place because his voice is smooth instead of stuttering like everyone else’s in his reef.

🌟 This book is perfect for parents, teachers, speech-language pathologists, and elementary school children of all ages! It also includes free online resources and classroom lesson plans to support meaningful discussions at home, in the classroom, and during therapy sessions.
