Rotary is your gateway to making an impact in your community and in the world! I have always been fascinated with other cultures and could never understand why there was so much angst in the world! One of the best ways to experience peace in action is to sit around a dinner table with people from around the world sharing delicious cuisine. At that moment, it’s like you are family. I recently received an opportunity to attend a peace gala and a forum on the future of international organizations at UNESCO in Paris which was a collaboration of organizations Uniting for Good with participants from over 35 countries, the United Nations, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and Rotary International. This was something that I came across on the internet and made it a reality and you can too! Rotary is in over 200 countries We have 7 areas of focus so if you want to Unite for Good and have an impactful experience, choose Rotary!

It’s an honor to serve as a Rotary Club President! As a global organization in over 200+ countries, not everyone has the same opportunity to become President of their club. It’s a huge responsibility especially with the size of our club but our leaders don’t do this alone. Rotary International and Rotary District 6580 provides plenty of training and networking prior to taking the reins on July 1st. This past weekend, President-Elect Taylor Gogel (26-27), President Nominee Jim Spath (27-28), and current District Governor Kari Schneider Akin attended the Land of Lincoln President Elect Learning seminar LOLPELS. Taylor has been learning with District Governor - Elect Matt Millies from New Albany! This is an intense weekend filled with dynamic speakers, 4-Rotary Districts (Indiana & Illinois), Rotary International leadership, so much food, and so much fun!

A HUGE thank you to Jim Spath for his commitment to the Rotary International Foundation! Today, Jim was inducted into the Paul Harris Society. This is a commitment of $1,000 annually to the Rotary Foundation. This can also be achieved for a monthly donation of $84 per month through Rotary Direct. The PHS member is presented with a PHS cheveron to hang on a Paul Harris pin or Major Donor Pin and a commemorative certificate. The Rotary Foundation has spent over $4 billion since inception on providing clean water, providing aid to disaster stricken areas, providing educational opportunities, growing economies, eradicating Polio, and of course peace initiatives.
