This Thursday, Aug 27 at 7:00 pm, join us for the return of our fall virtual Community Matters conversations hosted by Natasha Lovelace and guest Ashley Jackson, RN - who is the new owner of the former Great Scott Tavern location in downtown Euclid.

Many Euclid residents have expressed feelings about the future plans for use of this space, and we welcome you to join us for a conversation where residents explore the question "What about the kids?"

Congratulations to the City of Akron, Ohio - Mayor's Office for leading the way in Northeast Ohio! CVI works.

These are the types of programs we have been learning about and advocating for over the past three years in Euclid Ohio.

"The new funding expands a crisis intervention program in which counselors with lived experience go out into communities and build relationships with individuals at the highest risk of becoming involved in violence," these counselors are known as credible messengers.

According to the city, nonfatal shootings declined nearly 60% throughout the 18 months, compared to a 21% reduction citywide, after a team of crisis intervention counselors focused in one area of the city where higher rates of violence were reported. Felonious assaults declined 30% in the focus area even as they increased 6% citywide, the city said. The counselors have connected with 200 individuals since the pilot’s inception.

The city delegated $600,000 in funds to the Akron Street Team, which sends counselors to neighborhoods with elevated crime rates.

📣 Euclid Documenters :: Last night's Neighbor Night was a beautiful, outdoor gathering! We plan to meet outside next month, too, July 14, same time 6:30 pm.

Residents always set the agenda, tonight our conversations included ::

1. Welcome Wagon volunteer team to build connection with new residents, working with EdCor and other partners, businesses

2. EdCor home ownership programs, down payment assistance programs, home repair loans, and home repair grants

3. Discussion of potential rezoning of former Great Scott restaurant to a youth enrichment center

Kristal Grida, assistant to the mayor, will be joining us to talk about the city’s new resident welcome packets, something that’s come up in past conversations. It’s a chance to hear directly and ask questions.
