The Cougar Athletic Club is a non-profit organization providing scholarships to graduating HS Seniors and preserving the proud traditions of EHS athletics.

Fellow Cougars,

The Cougar Alumni Club Co****le tournament date is rapidly approaching, and we need at least 24 teams to make the tournament viable. We presently have 13. Please get out the players - you, your kids, your grandkids.... whatever. If you or they cannot participate, please sponsor a team, and we will get the players. The entrance fee is $100, and it goes directly to our scholarship fund. You can contact Dave Graves at (760)855-6671, Jason Womack at [email protected] or us at [email protected] with any questions.

The tournament registration starts at 9 am and the competition begins at 10 am. Get involved and support the next generation of Cougars!

Fellow Cougars,

At yesterday's Cougar Alumni Club breakfast meeting, we enjoyed hearing from 1972 grad George Weir. He is a 2026 inducted into the EHS Hall of Fame in recognition of his loyalty to EHS, the success of his local businesses and the generosity of the philanthropic organizations he championed.

Also, please join us at our next Cougar Alumni Club event, our Co****le Tournament fundraiser. It is set for August 22nd at Player's Sport Grille in San Marcos.

Registration starts at 9 am and competition starts at 10 am. A Round Robin round with each team playing 3 games and then to single elimination. Each team is guaranteed 4 games. $100 donation per team. More details in the attached flyer. We hope to see you there.

Please plan on attending our breakfast meeting next Saturday, August 1, at the Cocina del Charro restaurant in Escondido. Our guest speaker is an Escondido Legend and a 2026 EHS Hall of Fame inductee, George Weir (Class of 1972).

While attending EHS, George served as student body vice-president, was a member of the Key Club, Cougar Knights, orchestra, band, swim team, and football team. After high school, George graduated from San Diego State University. George subsequently founded Weir Asphalt Company and several other local businesses and charitable organizations, and has been widely recognized for his philanthropic and business efforts.

The Escondido Cocina del Charro restaurant opens at 8:00 AM, with our event beginning promptly at 9:15. Tickets purchased for $16 at the door include Cocina's American Continental breakfast. We hope to see you there.

Fellow Cougars,

This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming the four recipients of this year’s Cougar Alumni Club (CAC) Scholarship awards. Pictured from left to right with CAC President Dave Graves are Bianca Medina, Mia Baltazar, Allison Ortmeier, and Nicholas Medina.

Each of the scholarship recipients introduced themselves to the club and shared their unique experiences at Escondido High School, along with their plans for college and the future. They reflected on some of their most memorable moments at EHS, discussed their favorite classes, and spoke about the challenges they faced and overcame during their high school journey. It was clear to all that these four student-athletes represented themselves and the Orange and Black exceedingly well and are entirely deserving of their awards.

Dave Graves also shared highlights from the life of Bob Wilson, EHS Class of ’49. Bob did well in business (real estate and restaurants), and this allowed him to shift his primary focus towards philanthropy. He was a generous benefactor of the CAC and countless other charitable and worthwhile causes. Bob passed away in 2022, and the Wilson family has continued his legacy of charitable giving.

The Cougar Alumni meets quarterly and has a charter to raise funds and provide scholarships for graduating EHS seniors, as well as to foster fellowship among EHS alumni. We hope to see you soon at one of our events.

• Allison Ortmeier (GPA: 4.21, Volleyball Captain/MVP, Student Athlete Award)
• Nicholas Ramirez (GPA: 4.02, Track/Cross Country, Student Athlete Award)
• Bianca Medina (GPA: 3.91, Field Hockey captain)

These fabulous students will tell us a little about their EHS experience and future plans. Members of Cougar legend Bob Wilson’s family have also been invited to share some insights into Bob’s connection to and passion for all things EHS.
