Very happy that my brother-in-law's farm in the UK has won a prestigious international award for the cider they make there! The Houghton Project is a farm project that provides opportunities for anyone who wants to take part in a variety of rural activities but who would like some support to get fully involved. They provide programs for people with physical and cognitive challenges.

A HEREFORDSHIRE community group that makes its own cider has won awards for its products at an international competition.

Here is a list and description of the fruit trees scions available to choose from at the Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop this Saturday at Sky Mountain Permaculture from 10 AM to 1 PM. The scion cuttings have been collected from local back yards and small fruit tree orchards, and have a history of growing very well in our climate. At the workshop you will be provided two fruit trees of your choice to graft and take home and have the oppertunity to buy additional rootstock with your choice of fruit tree scion for $5 each.

Permaculture Food Forest Tour and Workshop
North Escondido Saturday, February 26th, 10am to 1pm
Tour a property with newly constructed swales that harvest thousands of gallons of rainwater runoff from the street. See a young food forest and help plant subtropical trees to feed humans and California natives to attract pollinators and provide food and shelter for wildlife.

Learn some of the tricks and techniques to build beautiful drystack urbanite (recycled concrete) retaining walls. The challenge of using urbanite is that the tops of the concrete is flat but the bottoms are very uneven and bumpy. We will show you how to overcome this challenge so you can build ubanite retaining wall that are strong, level and asthetically beautiful.
