Join us as we welcome Penn State Behrend alumna Melissa Horvath '10 to campus for our next Speaker Series event. Melissa is an award-winning entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of Sweet Water Decor, a nationally recognized home décor and gift brand.

What began as a small business in her basement has grown into a global brand, with products sold in more than 30,000 boutiques and major retailers worldwide. Melissa’s entrepreneurial journey showcases the power of creativity, perseverance, and turning a passion into a thriving business.

Wellness Fest is almost here! Join the Women’s Engagement Council on Monday, Sept. 21 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in McGarvey Commons for an evening that’s all about whole body well being — and yes, that includes therapy dogs, bunnies, a drum circle, a Wintergreen Gorge walk, a fun run, and more than 30 organizations ready with hands on activities.

Bring a friend, learn something new, and explore the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (spoiler: it’s way more than diet and exercise).

This event is free and open to the public — we’d love to see you there!

What a night at the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership Spirit of Erie Awards! Several WEC members were in attendance to celebrate this year’s honorees — including our own Emily Wargo, the 2026 Young Professional Award winner. Emily is a Digital and IT Associate at Parker Lord, a 2022 Behrend Marketing grad and a WEC board member.

Emily’s leadership, creativity, and commitment to Erie make her such an asset to our community and to WEC. Congratulations, Emily — we’re cheering loudly for you!

It's not easy for college students to wake up early on Sundays, but...we're so thankful they do! Thanks to our Cheer & Dance Team and our Cross-Country team members and all the others Behrend students who volunteered to make this event really great! WE ARE so proud!

Run for Women 5K is wrapped!

Our fifth — and biggest — year yet with 200+ registered and 193 finishers. Great weather, great energy, great people.

IT'S RACE DAY!

We are LIVE at the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center at Penn State Behrend and the energy is already amazing.

Come find us on Technology Drive — the DJ is warming up, the STEAM activities are ready for the kids, and the Berkey Creamery ice cream is waiting at the finish line. 🍦

Walk-up registration is welcome — come join the fun!

Good news: We have nearly 200 registered for the Run for Women 5K tomorrow. Bad news: As registration grows, I'm getting concerned about parking tomorrow. If you're familiar with the campus and can park in any other further lot and walk to the race, please do. :) Junker, Erie Lot, and the lots along Jordan Road and by the maintenance building are for residents, but visitors can park there on weekends.

Race weekend is here, and we’re fueling up.

Our runners will have a little extra hydration help thanks to Nuun — easy, tasty, and perfect for those pre‑race nerves and post‑race smiles. The Strawberry Lemonade and Lemon Lime are already fan favorites.

5K PACKET PICKUP IS TODAY!

SUNDAY is race day, but today is your chance to get everything ready! If you're registered for the Run for Women 5K, packet pickup is TODAY from 4–6 p.m. at the AMIC building on Technology Drive.

A few things to know:

🏃 You can pick up packets for your friends! Grab theirs while you're there and save them a trip.

⏰ Can't make packet pickup? No problem! Race-day packet pickup starts at 7 a.m. at AMIC. You do NOT have to come today.

☀️ Then we'll see you Sunday morning for an 8 a.m. start!

🍦 And, of course, there will be ice cream waiting at the finish line. Because that's how we do it. 😉
