🏕️📸🍂Troop 73 had a picture perfect experience at Pinchot State Park for our photography merit badge campout. Scouts tested their cooler weather camping stamina this past weekend as they learned camera skills while capturing fall colors, lighting, and memories. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this wonderful fall weekend!

Thank you to all troop and community members who made this a successful 🎠 2026 Ephrata Fair 🎡 season for our scouts. While completing their parade route trash clean up service, scouts and leaders received many thanks and well wishes for their efforts in keeping our community clean. Our Locust and Franklin Street parking lots were fully staffed by scouts and their families all week, and the proceeds will go directly to our troop in order to support our program and adventures. Job well done everyone!

Appalachian Trail Backpacking September 2026:
Big Flats to Pine Grove Furnace State Park with overnight at Tom’s Run Shelter 🥾🏕️

The theme of this weekend was all things halfway… scouts hiked a little more than halfway in to overnight at the shelter, halfway decent weather - spent a sunny Saturday hiking and in camp with a soggy overnight and Sunday, stopped for a photo op at the AT halfway mile marker, and hiked the final half of the journey to end at the Appalachian Trail Museum and General Store for post hike ice cream.

However, the full moral of the story is to try hard things. Yes, distance hiking brings physical challenges. Yes, hiking with a loaded pack pushes comfort limits. Yes, camping in the rain makes things tricky on the trail. But most importantly, YES, it creates a thrill for adventure and makes memories with good friends that will last a life time! Do the hard thing 🙌🏻

Troop 73’s Court of Honor celebrated busy spring and summer seasons in scouting. Scouts were awarded many merit badges and several progressed to the next rank. The variety of experiences shared were unmatched this year… National Jamboree, traditional summer camp and a 50+ mile backpacking trek at Massawepie Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks, Northern Tier high adventure camp, along with various local troop camp outs and events. We are proud of all our young men’s growth and achievements. Thanks to all our leaders and scout families who make scouting with Troop 73 a successful experience for all!

🚒 Pack 73 toured Lincoln Fire Company Station 16 last night. We learned how these brave volunteers keep our community safe. Then we practiced our flag folding skills and even got a ride in one of the fire trucks! A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Lincoln!

Troop 73 celebrated the first day of school with an advancement night out at the farm getting ready for our upcoming Court of Honor.

Plus we heard from 3 great candidates for SPL, voted for who we thought would be a great leader for the next year...please help us congratulate our 2026-2027 SPL...Ryan G!

Two of our own were honored at the 2026 Iron Forge District Awards on Thursday evening. Former Scoutmaster Ray Truex was awarded the District Award of Merit for his unwavering commitment at both the pack and troop levels throughout many years of dedicated service. Johnny Huntington was awarded Eagle Scout of the year. Congratulations to both on their distinguished achievements.

Our 73 unit honored local veterans on the evening of May 18th by refreshing the flags at several community cemeteries. Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. The values of courage, duty, and sacrifice that define our heroes are the same values we strive to instill in our Scouts. We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙
