CARF 100K Lives Spotlight 💙

100,000 lives isn't one big moment. It's nine families in Durango keeping their homes. It's five security deposits that meant the difference between stability and crisis. It’s all the smaller moments that add up.

CAR Foundation support in 2024 strengthened Manna Durango's housing stability efforts by providing critical rental and security deposit assistance to low-income households at risk of losing their homes.

This investment allowed Manna to respond quickly to short-term financial crises, helping families remain housed while connecting them to case management, food access, and employment-related resources.

As a result of this funding, Manna served 9 households between September and November 2024, delivering 5 instances of rental assistance and 5 security deposits, with 100% of participating households maintaining housing stability.

Stability isn't always built with a lease agreement.

Sometimes it's built with community, leadership opportunities, and the connection that comes from shared outdoor experiences.

CAR Foundation support in 2025 strengthened EarthLinks Workshop Program, helping individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty build stability through community, creativity, case management, and housing-focused services.

Through this support, EarthLinks ⬇️
🔹 Engaged 68 unique participants in 2025 while providing person-centered case management to every participant.
🔹 Helped 71% of participants who entered the program unhoused secure housing within 12 months
🔹 Assisted 91% of those who entered precariously housed in maintaining housing stability.

Participants also grew and harvested more than 1,000 pounds of produce, created thousands of sustainable products, received financial stipends and support, and participated in peer groups, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences that strengthened connection and well-being.

This is the kind of whole-person impact behind our 100,000 lives milestone, and exactly why we invest in organizations like EarthLinks.

19,000 evacuated. 26,000 homes damaged or destroyed. A Foundation that didn't hesitate.

In early September 2013, after a storm stalled over the Front Range, rivers rose out of their beds and rushed right through several Northern Colorado communities, resulting in one of the state's worst floods.

Meteorologists classified it as the kind of flood that happens only once every 500 or more years.

From Sept. 9 until Sept. 16, the Front Range experienced uncharacteristically heavy rainfall, which flooded several communities, resulting in nine fatalities, 19,000 people evacuated, 26,000 destroyed homes and about $4 billion in damages across the state, with 18 counties declared federal disaster areas.

The CAR Foundation, in tandem with the federal government and other nonprofit organizations, provided disaster relief to residents who lost their homes, with roughly 30% of residents being able to stay in the area and rebuild.

CARF 100K Lives Spotlight 💙

Behind every person in our 100K is someone who laid the groundwork.

CAR Foundation support in 2024 advanced Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork Valley's Confluence development in Glenwood Springs by funding critical infrastructure work.

This investment addressed one of the most challenging barriers in affordable housing development (infrastructure readiness), and supported utility installation, site grading, and foundational preparation.

With infrastructure in place, modular homes are scheduled for installation and families are preparing to move into stable, affordable homes later this year.

CAR Foundation Education Initiative Highlight: Mile High United Way's Personal Investment Enterprise Program.

At the CAR Foundation, we believe homeownership does more than provide a place to live; it stabilizes neighborhoods and creates lasting social and economic benefits for families and communities. That's why we support organizations that empower people through financial literacy, self-sufficiency, and the tools to build multigenerational wealth.

Mile High United Way's Personal Investment Enterprise (PIE) program is one of those organizations. By fostering a habit of saving and focusing on asset development, PIE helps Coloradans turn their dreams of homeownership into reality.
