Based on the beloved children's book by Ezra Jack Keats, this story comes to life in a special production for the young and young-at-heart—and here's the cast and creative team who will make it happen:

Our Artist in Residence Program is not only for singers—it's for emerging artists who also make operas happen. Please welcome Connor Buckley, our new collaborative pianist, and Diane Machin, our first-ever resident stage director! Connor has been a collaborative pianist and répétiteur in programs across the country, and is currently finishing up at the Lakes Area Music Festival. Diane has a background in directing, writing, and choreography, and—fun fact—she got engaged over the summer! These two will have a powerful impact on the program and we can't wait for you to meet them at the Showcases this fall.

This season, two new voices are coming to the Artist in Residence Program. Emily Thompson (soprano) and Xiao Xiao (mezzo-soprano) will join the cohort and perform for you all season. Both a soprano and a collaborative pianist, Emily brings a special perspective to her performances that we know you'll love. Xiao will be coming to us after finishing up her second summer at the historic Glimmerglass Festival, where she covered the role of Suzuki and performed as a Resident Artist. We can't wait for you to meet these exceptional artists and hear them for the first time at our Artist in Residence Showcases!

In just a few weeks, our Artist in Residence Program begins! This season, we're welcoming back the wonderful Bridget Ravenscraft and Mason O'Brien. Whether as the leading lady (Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Juliet in Romeo & Juliet) or her helpful maid (Annina in La traviata), Bridget's passion and presence shined on stage last season. On the mainstage, Mason played romantic rivals (Baron Douphol in La traviata and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly), and he brought the laughter and drama to our community (Major General in The Pirates of Penzance and Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet). We can't wait for you to hear more from this talented duo.

Opera Colorado has reached its first-ever collective bargaining agreement with the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), recognizing and supporting the artists at the heart of our work.

This agreement reflects our shared commitment to the people who bring opera to life. By supporting our artists, we're building a stronger Opera Colorado, creating opportunities for the next generation of talent, and ensuring our community continues to experience inspiring performances for years to come.
