We're thrilled to introduce one of our 2027 Symposium Co-Chairs, Dr Kat Cottrell:

"Hi everyone — I am so excited to be one of the co-chairs for PAMA's 2027 International Symposium along with the incredible Line Hilton.

When I was 11 years old, I started as a student at the Junior RNCM and had no idea my journey would lead me to performing arts medicine. Today, I'm a physician at the Musicians' Clinics of Canada, and I feel so lucky to get to bring PAMA's flagship Symposium back to the very institution that first shaped me as a musician and a person.

It has been so exciting connecting with the community in the UK, and around the world, in putting this event together and we have some incredible speakers and events lined up. This is one not to miss so please submit your abstracts by Nov 15 - we cannot wait to meet you all!"

We are elated to announce one of our 2027 Symposium Co-chairs:

"I’m Line Hilton, and I’m very proud to be co-chairing the PAMA International Symposium 2027 in Manchester.

My music and career has taken me from clarinet, to nursing to jazz vocals, music education and, eventually, bringing those worlds together through my MSc in Performing Arts Medicine at UCL.

I’ve long believed we need more conversation between performers, educators, clinicians, health practitioners and researchers. Performing artists give so much physically, mentally and personally to their work, and we need to understand and support them better.

That’s why our 2027 theme, Bridging the Gap: Connecting Research, Clinical Practice and Performance, means so much to me.

My mission is simple, to raise the standards of vocal, mental, and physical well-being in performers. I am confident that the 2027 symposium will help move us closer to that goal by bringing the right people, ideas and conversations together. Hope to see you there!"

The PAMA Research Committee is excited to announce that a special edition of the journal club will be held on 13th October 2026 at 19:00 – 20:30 (Central European Time) / 13:00 – 14:30 (Eastern Time).

This session will feature a recently-published paper by Dr Raluca Matei and colleagues titled:

*Health promotion in tertiary music institutions: a position paper*

The paper presents a consensus-based, evidence-informed framework for health promotion in tertiary music institutions that was developed by 122 contributors from a variety of disciplines.
