We're continuing our marathon of adoption announcements with this handsome little man...Choice! Grab some popcorn for this oneπΏ.
You may be wondering why he has two adoption photos. Well, the casual one was taken during one of our play sessions as a precaution because this boy is incredibly shy. But, he surprised us when he was willing to take the real photo! He was definitely ready for his big day, despite his anxiety. The same went for his first meeting with his new mom, Sarah. Normally, he's so shy that he'll hide out in the corner when new people visit. But, it's almost like he knew Sarah was different. She gave him all the patience he needed and introduced herself slowly. After a while, he wanted her to pet him...even his belly! Luckily, she's used to this kind of approach, since she experienced a long road with her current rescue, Mario. She wanted Mario to have a buddy, and someone with a similar personality. And well, it didn't take her too long to know that Choice was the one!π
If I may break the sacred wall again, his adoption day is an emotional one since it's been a long recovery for him, emotionally and socially. I've spent almost every single day, every single lunch break, every free moment, reassuring him he's safe and loved. Countless hours spent one on one with him, whether it was sitting in his cage with him, helping him learn to play with toys, learn to trust other kitties, and most importantly, help him understand that not all humans are bad. He only trusted me and the person who rescued him (π) and I hoped that someday he'd know how to trust a brand new human. And well, with tears in my eyes, I saw it happen as he allowed Sarah to softly pet him. I literally saw his fears melt away for a moment as he turned over and asked for a belly rub. Then, she asked him if he'd like to come home with her, furrever. A slow blink was all he needed to say. So, off he goes to live his new, well deserved life that he's worked so hard to find...with a little piece of my heart in tow.ππ₯°π»π
