Seven years ago, on this exact day in 2019, Heart for Widows International began its work in Bulgaria.
It started small, with knitting needles, yarn, and women who had every reason to give up but didn't. No spectacle. No fanfare. Just steady hands showing up, day after day.

Today, that quiet beginning lives on in every piece knitted since, stitch by stitch, by women who chose to rebuild instead of retreat.

Seven years of faithful, patient work behind the scenes... and we're just getting started. Here's to the women who whose strength is woven into everything she makes. .

There was a day she thought it might. A day the house felt too big, too quiet, too full of a life that had suddenly stopped making sense.

People recover better when they feel supported, valued, and connected.

There's a kind of pain that doesn't show up in a hospital chart... the pain of eating dinner alone after decades of eating with someone. Of reaching for a phone to share good news, and remembering there's no one on the other end anymore.

This is the quiet grief many widows carry. And it doesn't heal on its own.

Studies and lived experience agree: emotional healing accelerates when someone feels seen, heard, and held by community. A phone call. A shared meal. Someone simply sitting with her in the silence instead of rushing her through it.

Compassion isn't a nice gesture. For a grieving heart, it's medicine.

A new month always feels like an invitation... a chance to breathe again, to hope again, to believe again.

But we know that for many widows, the start of a new month doesn't always feel like a fresh start. It can feel like just another 30 days to survive alone... another set of mornings where the house is a little too quiet.

So today, we want to say something on repeat until it sinks in: you are seen. You are loved. You are not forgotten.

Whatever August holds for you, you don't have to carry it by yourself.

July taught us something we already knew, but needed to say out loud: grief doesn't announce itself, and strength doesn't always look like strength.

It looks like a widow getting through another ordinary day nobody clapped for.

This month, we tried to change that, by telling her story, and by rallying people like you around her.
