The Animal Retreat, formerly Meridian Canine Rescue, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving the Treasure Valley in Idaho since 2008. We moved to Emmett in 2024 in order to expand our capacity to help more at-risk animals who urgently need placement and specialized care.

Hi, I'm Sam! I've emerged from a tiny world where I knew few people, animals, or dogs. I never even took a walk before joining the Animal Retreat's EPIC program! Can you believe it?! My incredible trainers have empowered me to discover my inner strength, and now I see the world in a whole new light! I've blossomed into a confident pup, learning to connect with new people and making furry friends along the way. My humans give me the time and space to explore and learn, and that's all I need - plus a whole lot of love! I thrive with kids, having lived with 3 of them, and I get along great with dogs once I get to know them. I'll flourish in a home that nurtures my growth and helps me continue to spread my wings!

Our long time partner Yoga For Good is hosting a Yoga Class on June 6th to benefit The Animal Retreat! Yes, June is here, let's beat the hot weather and come to relax and exercise on support to the dogs and bunnies. The class is at 10:00 a.m. at Payette Brewing Co. (733 S Pioneer St, Boise).
We will be there to provide information and answer any questions you may have. If you want to bring donations we will be happy to take them! Urgent needs are always dog treats and canned dog food (chicken free will be ideal!) and for our bunnies Timothy hay is our greatest need.
