Williamson foster update!
Thank you BBBR Foster Marti for taking Williamson for a few days. Marti reports,
“24 hours or so with Williamson and these are my impressions.
You might consider giving Williamson a serious look if:
-You would enjoy a living, breathing teddy bear to cuddle with.
- You have company over and you don't want a dog jumping all over your guests.
- You like a dog that barely needs a leash, but you use one anyway to be a good neighbor.
- Your house is chaotic enough and you need a calm and chill dog for comfort and not to add to the drama.
-You don't want a dog jumping on your bed.
- You don't like to take long walks and play catch all the time.
I was not ready for how relaxed this sweet hippo is with his sad eyes. He sounds like a little pig sometimes, and maybe some low woofs, now and then. He was here maybe a few hours and was given a bath. Just picked him up, put him in the tub and he patiently stood there, just cool with it. Williamson is super smart too. He learned the dog door in less than 15 minutes, and I don't think he was familiar with one because I did have to show him how it works, and he was better going back inside, than going outside, lol. I don't think I have ever trained a dog that fast to use the door without using another dog to teach. He may have learned quickly, but he is not graceful about going through the door, lol. He has huge paws, short legs and a barrel body. He isn't jumping anywhere. His fur isn't sleek but has the tiniest bit of fluff that make him feel like a stuffed animal and has a bit of squish to him. If you are a tactile person, your fingers will love to pet him, you will want to squeeze him and squish his adorable face. This gentle giant uses a soft mouth to take his treats from your hand.
We took a short stroll through the park, meandering and gave Williamson time to sniff at some trees. He really doesn't want to play fetch. He wants to get the toy, and then go sit in a shady spot to gnaw on it. So suggested toys are Nylabones, or I gave him a black Kong. I put a tiny amount of peanut butter on the end to seal it, fill the Kong with yogurt and berry mix, and freeze it. He will sit by himself and eat his treat.
In my head, he is a southern gentleman dog that would be perfect sitting at your feet while sipping a cool lemonade on the front porch. Which lead to him being called Beau, and Billy Beau and Billy Boy and Pookie Boy. Languid, warm, gentle and serene. An old soul just wanting to enjoy a space with some loving company. You don't even have to do anything, but a snack would be great if you have one. No wonder he is a staff fave!”
