What a summer this has been! When Moose Lake reopened for overnight paddling near season's end, we were excited to help get a few more crews out into the Boundary Waters — though limited permits and resources meant not every remaining crew could make the trip. Today the last of those crews paddled back in, tired, happy, and full of stories.

Well folks, that’s a wrap! Our final crew of the summer season hit the water this morning!

Crew E081326A from the Longhouse Council in New York was excited to embark upon their journey in the “Mighty Mississippi”.

Scouts from multiple units make up this crew and their Lead Advisor was proud to see how well they were already coming together as a team.

We can’t wait to hear how a week on the water provides them with an adventure of a lifetime. Paddle strong, Scouts!

Today, the Northern Tier team began an exciting new phase of wildfire support!

Our canoes have been supporting the Bear Trap Fire response since the beginning, and now our staff are stepping in to help train the wildland firefighters who will be accessing the fire by canoe.

Each morning we’ll meet with firefighters and medics who are new to the team to teach basic canoe safety and paddling techniques—helping ensure they’re prepared to safely navigate the lakes and portage trails of the Boundary Waters as they support the firefighting effort.

Our staff had a great time this morning training our first group of 26 firefighters! We’re proud to put our canoeing expertise to work and support the incredible people on the front lines.
