On May 25, Pope Leo XIV shared a powerful reflection on the importance of safeguarding the dignity of all people. During , we’re reminded that how we treat others reflects who we are:

“A litmus test for social justice today is the treatment of migrants, refugees and those forced to move due to poverty, violence, climate change and environmental disasters. The way a society treats them reveals whether its sense of justice is driven by fear or by the spirit of fraternity."

Let’s choose dignity and welcome—for ALL people.

In 2024, The Karimi family arrived in the United States, quickly building new lives for themselves and their two children.

Despite language barriers and the challenges of resettlement, they secured jobs and began English classes—becoming active members of their local community.

Today, Afghan newcomers like the Karimi family are facing heightened risks due to shifts in federal policy and limitations on protections, making continued community support, advocacy and resources more critical than ever.

📷 by : Last week faith leaders and advocates came together to march in D.C. to show Congress that we want to fund care, not ICE.

Congress has slashed over a trillion dollars in funding to Medicaid, SNAP and the ACA — putting at risk access to healthcare, food, and basic stability for millions of working families, children, and seniors across the country.

Now Congressional Republicans are trying to use the reconciliation process to hand ICE, CBP, and other agencies $140 billion over ten years for immigration enforcement, and that’s on top of the billions they already received.

We’re coming together, along with faith leaders like mundekep to come out and advocate for our communities.

This World Environment Day, we celebrate the power of communities leading the way in climate resilience. 🌱

Around the world, climate change is increasing droughts, floods and disasters, disproportionately impacting those who have contributed the least. But communities are not just on the frontlines—they are at the forefront of solutions.

From climate-smart agriculture in Asia to water harvesting systems in Latin America, we're working alongside local partners to strengthen resilience, protect livelihoods and build a more sustainable future.

Like many young women and girls in Uganda’s Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Amina once struggled to access the menstrual hygiene supplies she needed. Without them, girls often missed several days of school each month and carried the emotional weight of shame, stigma and limited privacy.

That began to change in July 2025 when CWS launched a project providing 2,500 reusable menstrual hygiene kits to women and girls in Nakivale—and the impact has been transformative.

Amina's school attendance improved, her confidence returned and her grades rose. Most of all, she felt visible again. Now, Amina is mentoring younger girls in her neighborhood, discussing their bodies with confidence instead of fear.
