Black Youth Leadership Project -BYLP

Black Youth Leadership Project -BYLP Intentionally serving our community UNAPOLOGETICALLY!!

Through its yearly programs, Black Youth Leadership Project (BYLP) seeks to introduce more youth to the legislative process in an effort to connect the need for and an understanding of democracy and public service at an early age. Through accumulation of concepts, ideas and a greater understanding of the role of citizen and government, BYLP lifts today’s youth closer toward tomorrow’s platforms of

academic achievement, career growth and leadership opportunities. BYLP is committed to ensuring the youth have a voice at the table during all discussions had by officials whether elected or sworn to protect and serve. We believe the youth are the leaders they have been waiting for but understand the role we as adults must assume in order to insulate and protect them as the develop.

Every child that walks this earth deserves empathy. So why is it that other people find it so hard to show our black children some empathy? Why must they be the ones to earn it while others are given it firsthand? That's a question from this week's episode of Black v. Board of Education. Take a listen. 👇🏾

Our BYLP Fellows are already getting acquainted with the people of the community. As they continue to grow into their role here, our BBSN mentors wanted to inform our boys about why they chose to be here.

Meet the Black Youth Leadership Project Summer 2026 Fellowship Cohort. 🖤

This summer, a new group of emerging leaders is stepping into opportunities to learn, grow, serve, and lead. Through mentorship, professional development, community engagement, and hands-on experience, these fellows are investing in themselves and the future of our communities.

We are excited to support their journey and celebrate the impact they will make throughout the summer and beyond.

Join us in welcoming the Summer 2026 Cohort! 👏🏾

Every leader you admire had to make a decision at some point:

Keep following the crowd…
or start choosing themselves.

Leadership isn’t built in one big moment.
It’s built in the small choices nobody claps for.

The choice to walk away.
The choice to stay focused.
The choice to protect your peace, your future, and your goals.

Every decision matters.

And the habits you build today will shape where your life goes tomorrow.

👉🏾 Be honest: what’s one small choice you need to make for yourself right now?
👉🏾 If you need support getting back on track, tap into BYLP Wellness Circles or our MBSAT groups.

Choose you. One decision at a time.

Music is a reflection of who we are. This Black Music Month, we asked BYLP staff and fellows to share songs that represent them, their experiences, and the artists they love. Take a listen to the soundtrack of our community. 🎵🖤

Our black babies are judged before they even walk through the door, and they know it too. Even when they use the tools given to them to avoid conflict, the aggressors will still find a way to instigate and provoke them to twist the narrative in their favor. Here's a sample of what we had to say in regards to that during this week's BVBOE podcast. Take a listen. 👇🏾

Men are often told to be strong. Too often, that means staying silent.

Mental health matters because men matter. Fathers, brothers, friends, mentors, and community leaders all deserve space to talk, heal, and seek support.
This Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, let's normalize checking in and speaking up.

🖤 Tag a man who has made a positive impact in your life.
💬 What’s one thing people should understand about men’s mental health?

As we continue to talk to our wellness circle, the mentors must always be mindful to act as an example for our boys. Even if there's a dispute or disagreement amongst each other, they must always remember to respect each other and themselves where they're at. Just like how they do for our boys.

If you wish for your son to be a part of our wellness circle or if you would like to support our organization directly, check us out at https://www.bylp.org to sign up for the program and/or donate to our organization!

This is what it looks like when somebody stays. 🖤❤️

Not perfection.
Not pretending life is easy.

But presence.
Consistency.
Love that shows up over and over again.

For so many of our young people, one person choosing to stay can change everything. A father. A mentor. A grandparent. A community that refuses to give up on them.

This campaign is for the people whose presence became protection, guidance, and legacy all at once.

Tag someone who stayed in your life when it mattered most and let them know their love made a difference. ⬇️

HELD DOWN. LEVELED UP.
