Upendo Womens Foundation

Upendo empowers girls to graduate from school and gain financial freedom through the delivery of a simple, scalable solutions - sanitary pads and menstrual cups. 1 out of 10 girls in Africa miss up to 5 days of school per month due to lack of pads. By delivering pads, along with health education and community empowerment, Upendo is working on giving girls the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

Upendo Women’s Foundation is a grassroots organization creating a more dignified, humane and sustainable world for girls through advocacy, reproductive health awareness, education and sustainable feminine hygiene because no girl should go without.

Upendo Women’s Foundation’s primary operation is providing girls in Africa with sanitary kits. Upendo has distributed reusable pads to Kenya, Zanzibar, Malawi, Cameroon and South Africa. In Kenya and Zanzibar, we are currently working with local government and other non-profit organizations to put together and distribute the packages. We also work with volunteers from the United States, as well as the country we work in. We are also in the process of putting together educational materials and pamphlets to include in the kits, as education is one of our priorities. In the future, as we expand, we would like to begin these services in Uganda, Liberia and Ghana. To solve this problem, we are bringing sustainable solutions to help eliminate shame and restore dignity. Check us out at www.upendowomensfoundation.org for more information!
