POV: BLPAPA goes to San Francisco… and of course, we had to do the OTSO OTSO! 😂🇵🇭🌉

Our BLPAPA family traveled to San Francisco today to attend the T’boli-Kehetotol Dance Workshop hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco in collaboration with Parangal Dance Company!

And of course, no BLPAPA outing would be complete without our favorite tradition… OTSO OTSO! 💃🕺🤣
No matter where we go, the tradition continues!

🇵🇭A CELEBRATION OF CULTURE, HERITAGE & UNITY!

BLPAPA is honored to be part of the 2026 Multicultural Gala, celebrating the beauty and diversity of cultures through the performing arts!

Today, our performers proudly showcased Kapagapir, a traditional dance of the Maranao people of Mindanao, Philippines. Known for its graceful movements and intricately decorated fans, Kapagapir reflects the elegance and rich cultural heritage of the Maranao community.

Through every movement, every Philippine attire, and every performance, we strive to keep our Filipino heritage alive and share its beauty with future generations.

As we celebrate Filipino American History Month, we are reminded that preserving our culture means more than remembering our roots. It means continuing to share them with the world.

A heartfelt thank you to the JYL Foundation for this opportunity and to our dedicated BLPAPA performers for representing our organization with pride!

🎬🇵🇭 BLPAPA PRIVATE SCREENING OF FORGOTTEN ISLAND

Today, our BLPAPA family came together for a private screening of Forgotten Island!

At BLPAPA, celebrating Filipino culture goes beyond the stage. Through film, conversation, music, dance, and shared experiences, we continue creating opportunities for our community to connect with Filipino stories, history, and identity.

BLPAPA members are invited to come together again on Sunday, October 18 for a discussion of Forgotten Island. We’re looking forward to hearing everyone’s perspectives, reflections, and takeaways from the film!
