Hardin County AM Rotary Club As a Rotarian, a member is guided by the principles which can be found in the Four Way Test.

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

On Friday, October 2, the Hardin County AM Rotary Club welcomed Dustin Kiser, President of the Young Professionals Network of Hardin County.

Dustin shared how the network has grown by focusing on after-hours networking and activities that connect young professionals. We also discussed how civic organizations can work together to make a greater impact in our community.

He highlighted Cosmic Rising Star at Cosmic Golf, benefiting Project Giveback through the Central Kentucky Community Foundation.

On Friday, September 25, the Hardin County AM Rotary Club heard from fellow Rotarian Steve Rice, chair of the City of Elizabethtown Planning Commission, and Aaron Hawkins, City of Elizabethtown Planning Director.

Steve and Aaron gave us an inside look at the city’s recent vote and implementation of an ordinance addressing data centers, including what the future could look like for this rapidly developing industry and why the city wanted to be prepared for potential applications.

They also shared updates on other areas of growth, development and change throughout Elizabethtown — changes we’re already seeing in our community and that will continue to shape Hardin County in the years ahead.

We appreciate Steve and Aaron taking the time to keep our club informed and give us a better understanding of where our community is headed. There’s a lot happening in Elizabethtown!

Friday, 9/11, Darrell Olsen representing the Heartland Ambucks Chapter spoke to the club about their efforts to provide AMTRYKES to children with physical disabilities. Darrell brought with him an AMTRYKE that members of our club assisted in assembling. Darrell spoke first gave us a history of the origin of t, then he went over the process by which families apply to get an AMTRAK, the evaluation process and the fundraising that is done. Just as important Darrell spoke of the recovery program by which the monitors the use so that when an AMTRAK is no longer being used by the child, the local chapter then takes reclaims possession in order to allow another serving child can receive use of the AMTRYKE. It was a pleasure last Friday evening, 08/28, to be hosted by the Heartland Ambucks Chapter for a work session to put together some AMTRYKES. Thank you, Bev for sending in the troops. It was a joy to joining with so many enthusiastic people to assemble trikes which will benefit some deserving children. Thank you Darrell Olsen, Bullmoose Brothers bike shop for hosting the event.

We had a great time last Friday welcoming John Wright of Hardin County Schools as our guest speaker! 🎓

John gave us an informative look at the state of our school district, including the upcoming construction of “Trojan Way” Elementary in Radcliff and exciting plans for facility upgrades and new construction throughout the district.

We always enjoy learning more about what’s happening in our community—and it sounds like there’s plenty of exciting growth ahead! 🏫🚧

At our Friday, August 7 meeting, we welcomed Sarah Fellows and Valerie Haddle with Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter!

They shared about the organization’s partnership with the Hardin County Animal Shelter and the many ways their volunteers help support animals in our community — from spay/neuter programs and rescue transport to adoption assistance and more. 🐶🐱

We appreciate Sarah and Valerie taking the time to share their mission with us and for the work they do to give shelter animals a better chance at finding loving forever homes! ❤️

Friday 7/24: The Hardin County AM Rotary Club had the pleasure of hearing from Quint Pottinger, owner of Affinity Farms in New Haven.

Quint shared how his family farm is embracing the future of agriculture through autonomous farming technology and other innovative practices. It was fascinating to learn how they’re staying on the cutting edge of an industry that’s rapidly evolving while continuing to build on generations of farming tradition.

Friday, 7/31, Jo Ann Heppermann, President of Rotary Club of Prospect Goshen, spoke to our club and invited us to join her Kentucky Stamp Out Cervical Cancer Initiative. Jo Ann  made a very compelling presentation that showed the areas in our state where cervical cancer is most prevalent. She also shared with us impressive statistics on the effectiveness of the vaccination, which when properly administered eliminates the chance of that child from ever getting cervical cancer.
