Women Shooters of Kentucky

Women Shooters of Kentucky Site for all women shooters. Our Basic Marksmanship & Safety Training Course is designed specifically for women with little or no shooting experience.

In fact, you don’t even have to have your own handgun to participate. We provide loaner handguns (ammunition can be purchased on site) for the students but if you do have your own, by all means bring it! The fundamentals and etiquette of safety and shooting are taught in a classroom setting, followed up by live-fire practical exercises with over-the-shoulder coaching to prepare students for a fina

l qualification shooting test on their own at days end. Women will leave our training course with the knowledge and ability to safely and confidently handle, store, maintain and fire handguns.

One of us has repeatedly received this call, so we thought it it’s worth sharing.

These scam voicemail messages claim to be from a “tax resolution” or “mediation” office. These calls often say your “file is still active” and urge you to call back immediately to discuss “new relief options.”

Don’t fall for it. These messages are typically generic, unsolicited, and not connected to any legitimate case.

Here’s what you need to know:
• The Internal Revenue Service does NOT contact taxpayers by unsolicited phone calls or voicemails like this
• Legitimate tax issues are first communicated through official mail
• Scammers use urgency and vague language to get you to call back and provide personal information

What to do:
• Do NOT return the call
• Do NOT provide personal or financial information
• Block the number
• Report the call to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov

If you have concerns about your tax status, contact the IRS directly using official contact information—not the number left in the voicemail.

Stay alert and help spread the word to protect others in our community.

NKU student Murry (legal name Alexis Marie) Foust was reported missing to the Covington Police Department at 3 a.m. Thursday morning. They were last seen on April 27 around 5:30 p.m. on their way to class and have not been seen since. According to the Covington Police Department, when initially reported, it didn’t meet the criteria for a missing report.

Their friend Charlie King made a Facebook post around 11 a.m. Thursday, urging people to keep an eye out for Foust. Also in King’s post, they say Foust’s car was found a block from their apartment in Latonia, Kentucky, off of Decoursey Avenue. Their bag was found at NKU and their cellphone was found in their apartment when police searched it.

“Murry has never done this before and was in good spirits before they went missing,” King said.

“Foust takes medication and has documented mental health disorders as well, so finding them is incredibly urgent. This behavior is unheard of for Foust, and we are all panicking,” King said.

For anyone keeping an eye out for Foust, they are Caucasian with shoulder-length black dyed hair with choppy bangs and brown eyes. They are 22 years old and 5’7. There is a geometric striped pattern tattoo on their elbow, a ram skull on their upper arm and on one of their shins is a depiction of a crucified Jesus.

We want to warn local business owners about a sophisticated scam popping up across Kentucky using publicly available PPP loan data. Many thanks to our vigilant friends at The Cecilian Bank for giving us the heads up!

Scammers are apparently exploiting the U.S. Small Business Administration’s public PPP loan database (which includes business names, addresses, phone numbers, loan amounts, and lenders) to make their calls and texts appear highly legitimate.
Here’s how the scam works:
• You may receive a text message or phone call that spoofs your bank’s real phone number and displays your bank’s name on Caller ID.
• The caller uses real bank employee names and references your specific PPP loan details to sound credible.
• They claim there’s an unauthorized ACH or wire transfer that needs your immediate attention.
• They pressure you to click a link and log into what looks like your bank’s website.
Once you enter your credentials, scammers use them to steal money from your account.
What to do if you receive a suspicious call or text:
• Do NOT click any links in the text message.
• Never provide login credentials over the phone or through a texted link.
• Hang up and call your bank directly using a verified number from your bank app, statement, or website.
• Verify any suspicious activity by contacting your local banking center.
If you’ve already fallen victim to this scam, contact your bank immediately to report it and change your passwords.
Stay vigilant, business owners! Scammers are using public data to sound convincing, but a few simple verification steps can protect you.
Please share this with other local businesses in your network!
