Dr. Carlos Rodriguez, Ed.D., serves as Senior Vice President of Administration at Kean University, where he provides executive leadership for Student Affairs, strategic operations, and institutional analytics across a multi-campus system. A driving force behind the transformation and integration of NJCU into Kean Jersey City, he has helped advance a unified, student-centered vision for higher education. Dr. Rodriguez is the founder of CRECE: The Center for Raising Excellence and Cultural Empowerment, an initiative dedicated to expanding leadership opportunities and academic success for Hispanic and Latino students. He is also a champion of Kean’s anchor institution mission, leveraging university resources to foster community impact, economic mobility, and regional partnerships. Nancy Carrero-Muñoz is a dedicated educator, leader, and community advocate whose career in education spans more than 26 years. A proud graduate of Elizabeth Public Schools, she began her career as a teacher in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she served for 21 years and earned the Governor’s Educator of the Year Award twice for her excellence in teaching. Since 2020, she has served as a Vice Principal, continuing her commitment to student success, mentorship, and educational equity. Nancy holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Kean University and was recognized with the 2022 Women in Culture and Leadership Award by the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce. An active member of the Puerto Rican Alliance of Elizabeth, the Roselle Multicultural Committee, and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., she is deeply committed to community service, cultural advocacy, and empowering future generations through education and leadership. Kristen M. Leber is a respected funeral director, business owner, and community leader from Hudson County whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to faith, service, and family tradition. A fifth-generation funeral professional, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Thomas Aquinas College and her degree in Mortuary Science from the American Academy McAllister Institute. In 1998, she became a licensed funeral director—the first woman in her family to do so—and later acquired Gorny & Gorny Funeral Home in 2006, where she continues to provide compassionate, personalized care to families. Deeply involved in community outreach and charitable work, she also mentors future funeral directors and supports local initiatives, including collaborations with Christ Fellowship Church. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ruth Esther Gonzalez has dedicated her life to faith, family, and service. Raised in a Christian household by her pastor father, she moved to New Jersey in 1979 after marrying her beloved husband, Hiram Gonzalez (RIP). A proud mother of two, grandmother of five, and UPS employee for 35 years, Ruth has also spent more than three decades serving at Iglesia Misión Cristiana in Elizabeth as a lead singer and missionary. Through her community work, including singing for seniors, helping distribute food to families in need, and supporting youth programs, she has touched countless lives. In recognition of her lifelong commitment to serving others and uplifting her community, Ruth is honored as the recipient of the 2026 Ruiseñor Excellence Award. ❤️🇵🇷🏆
