Our recent General meeting on April 9 was pretty special! We were delighted to have ESO Timpanist, Robert “Bobby” Everson, entertain us!
Diane Campbell talked about the upcoming Gala on May 16 and how much fun it is to attend.
Do you love attending the concerts? Why not attend one of our General meetings and learn how you can become more involved, meet some really nice people, and get to learn more about the musicians? We have one more for this season on April 30. Bobby is such a fun guy besides being a wonderful musician. Those of us who work downstairs during a concert, preparing their intermission snacks, get a lot of one on one time chatting with musicians like Bobby. It seriously enriches the concert experience when you have that connection to them as individuals. If you would like to observe what we do as an orchestra hostess volunteer, contact Pat at (847)293-3330 to arrange a tour. It’s something that is fun to experience! Next season we’ll be looking for additional help- it might be just the activity you’ve been needing!

Happy April 1st!

This Wednesday through Friday was the ESO’s annual Ainsworth Concerts for Youth where they performed 5 shows for area school children. The League helped with ushering the groups in and out each day and feeding the musicians during their long intermissions. Thank you to everyone who made this a successful week! And special THANKS from Hostess Carolyn Branch to those who helped her serve 60 musicians, Lena Ecklund, Sandy Magana, Jean Borre, Ricky Harris, Laura Stroud, Pat Sekowski, and Lee Ann Clark (picture credit as well!) over the two days.

At our March 5th General Meeting, guest speaker Sara Sitzer, cellist with the ESO, gave the league a taste of that upcoming ESO concert with beautiful music composed by Gabriel Faure.
Sara has been performing with the ESO since 2011. She also performs with and is one of the Founding Artist Directors of Chamber Music on the Fox.
Murna Hansmann and Sara Sitzer led the group in wishing member Betty Brown a Happy Birthday!
Jen Whalen and Carol Rauschenberger, in charge of feeding the musicians during Saturday night intermissions, spoke about this volunteer opportunity for next season.
Our next General meeting is April 9.

Food prep for the orchestra intermission snacks is complete! One of the jobs of the League is to provide a snack and beverage for the musicians.
We are currently looking for volunteers for next season during Saturday night performances to help provide these. No long term commitment needed. You can sign up for just one concert of your choosing if you’d like. You can do your own thing! Food costs are reimbursed by the League and we have all the serving supplies in the kitchen. It’s a lot of fun and the musicians are so appreciative! If interested contact us and our hostess can give you more information. You are welcome to come watch how it’s done!
