I was just informed by a neighbor that Harvest Bible Chapel will be setting off fireworks sometime after 9 PM this evening! If you have pets that are afraid of fireworks you might want to take steps to protect them. Harvest Bible Chapel is the church at the West end of Royal just across Randall Road. If you do not have pets and just want to watch, it's a nice evening and there is no rain in the forecast for this evening. Fire up the grill and have a party.

Just as a reminder to all the son's and daughter's out there.

Sunday is Mothers Day.

See LWV of the Elgin Area Candidate Forums for Local Elections

The Elgin Area League of Women Voters has recorded 15 candidate forums for local municipal, township, library, and school board elections. They can be found in the Voter Guide on the LWVEA website at lwvelginarea.org. In addition, there is information about who is on the ballot, candidate questionnaires, and the Sleepy Hollow referendum.
Local elections are important. They affect what services are available, your quality of life, and your taxes. Be an informed voter!

A note from our very own Secretary Sandy Kaptain:

Community Solar with Elgin Green Groups/Facebook
Description: Join Elgin Green Groups' monthly meeting on February 15th at 6:30pm.

This month we are inviting Trajectory Energy Partners to provide a presentation on community solar and how Illinois residents and businesses can become community solar subscribers.

If you can't put solar panels on your own home or business, you can now subscribe to a community solar project with no upfront investment. Learn how you can save money while supporting local renewable energy being built right now in Illinois.

The meeting will be held in more of a webinar-styled format with the first 15 minutes of the meeting used for time to discuss Elgin Green Group organizational matters.

The presentation will start at 6:45pm and will cover community solar program details, savings benefits, contract terms, and more.

By registering below and providing your email, Trajectory will be able to follow up with you after the meeting. You can opt out of emails and/or calls at any time.

By clicking the ‘’REGISTER” button below, you agree to the Privacy Policy of Trajectory Energy Partners, LLC (https://trajectoryenergy.com/trajectory-energy-partners-privacy-policy/) and you authorize Trajectory Energy Partners, LLC (and any of its affiliates or identified partners, “Trajectory”) to contact you and/or members of your household for marketing purposes at the telephone, email or mobile number you entered, even if your telephone or mobile number is currently listed on any state, federal, or corporate “Do Not Call” list.

Another entry from our Township Trustee Mr. Poulton:

As we all know blood supplies are critically low during the winter and summer months so the Elgin Township will be hosting a Blood Drive in March!!!

The Four Steps of a Blood Donation
Registration
We ask some information about yourself and give you important information to read up on. Remember – you MUST have a photo ID to donate. If you are 16, you must have a signed Versiti permission slip.
Screening and Mini Physical
We then conduct a confidential interview and ask you questions on your medical history. We will then check your pulse, blood pressure, temperature and iron level.
Donation
While you relax in a comfortable donor bed, we clean your arm with antiseptic and then draw about one pint of blood. It takes about five to eight minutes to donate whole blood! Be sure to eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids at least four hours before your donation!
Refresh
After you donate, we give you cookies and juice to enjoy. Your body needs to replenish fluids lost over the next 12 – 24 hours.

Please take the time to give the gift of life!!

The following article is compliments of Rick Poulton:

The 2020 General and Presidential Elections are over but……Local elections are here!!
After what most of us consider an exhausting November 2020 election we tend to forget that our most critical election cycle has arrived. Why is it called “our most critical” election cycle? It’s because those candidates that are victorious in local Consolidated Primary elections, occurring February 8-23, and the Consolidated elections, occurring March 22-April 6, will be making decisions affecting your:
• City
• Library Board
• School Boards
• Township
Decisions on what we pay for library services, road maintenance, schooling, sewer/ water usage, waste collection, etc.

Since turnout for these elections are always small your vote means more than it does in a General “Presidential” Election. Therefore, PLEASE go to www.kanecountyclerk.org/elections, select “candidate list” and see who is running for:
• Elgin City Council
• Elgin Community College Board
• Elgin School District Board
• Elgin Township Highway Commissioner*
• Elgin Township Supervisor *
• Elgin Township Trustee
• Gail Borden Library Board

*Contested positions in the Consolidated Primary elections

Research the candidates (some of whom may be a neighbor or friend) and PLEASE vote!!

The Kane County Clerk's office, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Bldg. B, Geneva, IL and the Aurora office, 5 E. Downer Place, Ste. F, Aurora, IL  will be closed on Monday Jan. 18th, 2021 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular business hours will resume on Monday Jan. 19, 2021 at 8:30 a....
