If you are a resident of Northeast Elgin, volunteering for the Elgin Classic is a great way to meet new friends and stay in touch with neighbors as you serve as ambassadors for our community as part of this exciting annual event.

Join the many volunteers already signed up to help at the Elgin Classic bike race on Friday, July 24! You'll get a free Elgin Classic 2026 t-shirt, be able to watch world-class racing, and be invited to our (free) Volunteer Pizza Party on Wednesday, July 22 at Danny's on Douglas - a sponsor of the race and great neighbor! The Lions Club of Elgin is providing free vision and hearing screenings on Saturday May 30th from 12-4pm. Free for children and adults! You will see the mobil testing unit parked close to the main entry of the Centre Of Elgin.

You can also recycle your unwanted sneakers at the same time :)

The following streets will be closed to motor vehicles from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

- N Grove Avenue (from Ann Street to Slade Avenue)
- River Bluff Road (from Slade Avenue to Prospect Blvd)
- Prospect Street (from River Bluff Road to Congdon Avenue)
- Congdon Avenue (from Prospect Street to Bellevue Avenue)
- Cedar Avenue (from Congdon Avenue to northbound dead end)
- Bellevue Avenue (from Congdon Avenue to Cooper Avenue)
- Cooper Avenue (from Bellevue Avenue to Brook Street)
- Brook Street (from Cooper Avenue to River Bluff Road)

Detour and no parking signs have been placed.
