Introducing the Valerie Carr Compassion Program đź’ś

The Valerie Carr Compassion Program is one of three core initiatives of the Valerie Carr Foundation and was created to help ease the burden of cancer treatment for Union County residents who must travel outside the county for care.

We understand that the cost of treatment often extends beyond medical expenses. Other expenses can quickly become overwhelming for patients and families already facing difficult circumstances.

Through this program, the VCF provides financial assistance to help reduce those burdens and ensure individuals can access the care they need.

Assistance requests are accepted year-round, reviewed as received, and is awarded based on eligibility, demonstrated need, and available program funding.

I’ve been holding this close to my heart…
Recently, I lost my best friend to cancer, and this journey has reminded me, once again, how deeply this disease impacts the people we love.

Walk Like Valerie! Cancer Walk & Wellness Fair was created in honor of my mom…and now, it carries even more meaning.

This walk is for every life, every story, for those we’ve lost, those still fighting, and the survivors who continue to inspire us every day.

An Update from The Valerie Carr Foundation đź’ś

When I introduced the Dance Like Valerie! Cancer Awareness Gala, it came from a place of love and purpose, and that vision still stands.

With intention and care, we’ve decided to move the gala to 2027 to create the experience it truly deserves.

This isn’t a pause, it’s a promise.
A promise to honor legacy, celebrate life, and do it the right way.

Until then, we will continue the mission through our community events and initiatives.

Light for Valerie is not just a fundraiser. It is a sacred moment during our gala where we will pause and light candles in honor of those we have lost to cancer.

In addition to the City of El Dorado’s proclamation, I am honored to share that the State of Arkansas officially proclaimed February 5, 2026, as Valerie Carr Day!

This state-level recognition honors my mother’s life, kindness, and legacy, as well as the continued work of The Valerie Carr Foundation in cancer awareness, education, and community wellness.

Though received after February 5th, this honor stands forever.
