Thanks again to our volunteer restoration team for their continued work on the A-12 on May 23rd. They stated "Quartz was used in areas that required precision optical clear. The windshield and canopy glass were special made "high tempered and heat resistant glass."

With the recent news of the A-10 Warthog being extended to 2030 lets take a look back on this day May 10, 1972 .

Chief Test Pilot Howard Vernon "Sam" Nelson made the first flight of the prototype Fairchild Republic YA-10A Thunderbolt II, 71-1369 at Edwards AFB.

On April 26th at Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale volunteers commemorated the A-12's first flight anniversary. Dave Bloomberg,Martinez T Frank, Michael Darcy, Roberto Garnica and Jesse Lozano replaced the damaged windshield on the Prototype A-12. Dave who is leading the project is making the replacements windows at his house.

Thank you to our Foundation board member Angela Raisian for dropping off brunch and some postcards signed by A-12 pilots.

Blackbird Airpark is open to the public and located at 2503 E Ave P Palmdale. The hours are Fri-Sun 11:00am-4:30pm.
