📶 Free dorm Wi-Fi is expanding across the Air Force!

Airmen living in dormitories at 28 installations now have access to free high-speed internet, with more locations on the way! According to Stars and Stripes, Boingo provides the service through an Army & Air Force Exchange Service contract, with speeds designed to reach 100 Mbps or greater.

For our dorm Airmen, this can mean one less monthly bill, easier access to college coursework and online resources, and staying connected with loved ones. These improvements align with AFSA Chapter 1320’s commitment to supporting our enlisted community and advocating for quality of life.

The rollout supports a requirement in the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act to provide free internet in junior enlisted unaccompanied housing—a reminder that legislative changes can deliver tangible benefits for our service members.

👀 Travis AFB Airmen: Keep this on your radar! Additional installations are being added, so this benefit could be heading our way. The article does not confirm a rollout date for Travis, but the expansion is encouraging news for our dorm community.

📣 Help us spread the word! Share this update with dorm residents, supervisors, and fellow Airmen so they know about this expanding benefit.

🇺🇸 VA DISABILITY UPDATE | AFSA Chapter 1320

Military.com reports that VA recorded more than 625,000 increases to 100% combined disability ratings during fiscal years 2023–2025, including 255,751 in 2025 alone.

These increases involved veterans already receiving disability compensation. The article identifies worsening conditions, new evidence, and expanded eligibility—including changes under the PACT Act—as factors that can contribute to higher ratings. The records do not identify the reason for each increase.

📌 Why this matters: Veterans should stay informed about their earned benefits and seek qualified guidance when their circumstances change. These numbers do not mean an increase is automatic or guaranteed.

📣 Legislative Update | Expanding Child Care Options for Military Families

Chapter 1320, reliable child care helps military families thrive and keeps our service members ready to accomplish the mission.

Senators James Lankford and Jacky Rosen have introduced the bipartisan Best Practices for Military Child Care Homes Act, aimed at making it easier for military families to establish and operate certified, home-based Family Child Care (FCC) programs on installations.

The proposed legislation would require a best practices guide to help prospective providers navigate the process. The goal: reduce barriers, expand child care options, and create more employment opportunities for military spouses.

For Team Travis families balancing duty schedules, deployments, and parenting, access to dependable child care matters every day. Supporting our families strengthens our readiness! 🇺🇸

📌 This bill has been introduced and is not yet law.

🎃 Advocacy, community, and a little Halloween fun!

As Legislative Awareness Week wrapped up, AFSA Chapter 1320 still made time to support our Travis families at the Military & Family Readiness Center’s Trunk-or-Treat event! 🍬👻

Our team set up a chapter booth, handed out candy to the children of Travis Air Force Base, and connected with families while sharing upcoming chapter initiatives.

From advocating for quality-of-life improvements to bringing smiles to our youngest community members, Chapter 1320 continues to show up for Team Travis. Thank you to every volunteer who made time during a busy week to help make this event special! 💙

🇺🇸 Legislative Awareness Week: Chapter 1320 Made an Impact!

This week, AFSA Chapter 1320 reached more than 28 units across the 60th Air Mobility Wing, 621st Contingency Response Wing, and 349th Air Mobility Wing, connecting with active-duty and Reserve Airmen throughout Team Travis!

From unit visits to outreach at the dining facility, Base Exchange, and base hospital, our team spread legislative education and advocated for improvements to the quality of life of our service members and military families.
A special thank-you to our Legislative Trustee, SrA Trevaughn Palmer, whose planning, leadership, and dedication helped make this one of our most successful Legislative Awareness Weeks ever!

To every volunteer who took time out of a busy schedule to support this effort—thank you. You brought energy, strengthened connections, and reminded our military community that their voices matter.

📣 Chapter 1320—Let’s Finish Legislative Awareness Week Strong!

Good morning, Chapter 1320! As we wrap up Legislative Awareness Week, let’s ensure every member understands the three bills at the center of our outreach:

🇺🇸 Military Family GI Bill Promise Act
🇺🇸 Major Richard Star Act
🇺🇸 Pay Our Troops Act

Our mission goes beyond sharing bill names. It’s about understanding the issues, explaining why they matter, and helping the Travis Air Force Base populace and surrounding communities make their voices heard.

Take time to review our legislative materials, ask questions, and share what you learn with your coworkers, family, and friends. Every informed conversation helps strengthen our collective voice.

Thank you to everyone who staffed a table, visited units, gathered signatures, or helped spread the word this week. Let’s finish strong and carry this momentum forward—our advocacy continues long after the week ends! 💪
