Cost, transportation, and limited access to reading materials can create barriers to literacy. That's why South Texas Literacy Coalition is committed to putting free books directly into the hands of children and families throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Through reading, children build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, develop critical thinking skills, gain confidence, and discover new ideas and perspectives. These skills help them succeed in the classroom and beyond.

That’s why access to books matters. Every book has the power to spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and create opportunities that can last a lifetime.
