Star Legacy Foundation

Star Legacy Foundation Nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and care of pregnancy loss, stillbirth and neonatal death.

Who We Are
The Star Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to stillbirth research and education. We are a community of parents, families, and friends of stillborn babies who are dedicated to reducing the number of families that endure such a needless tragedy. Star Legacy Foundation is headquartered in Minnesota with 8 Chapters across the United States. We Believe…
*Man

y stillbirths are preventable.
*Expectant parents should be informed about stillbirth risks and educated on ways to protect their pregnancy.
*Standard prenatal protocols should include a third trimester ultrasound to identify known stillbirth risk factors and subsequent management through home fetal monitoring when risk factors are identified.
*A national stillbirth registry should be created with mandatory participation to accurately collect stillbirth data.
*Stillbirth autopsies should be encouraged and performed consistently with established protocols.
*Stillborn children should be recognized with a certificate of birth.
*Families deserve and are entitled to support and guidance when facing the delivery of a stillborn child.
*Stillbirth, birth injury (cerebral palsy and others), premature birth and miscarriages may have some common denominators – finding answers to stillbirth may enlighten the path to reducing miscarriage, premature birth, and birth injury. The Star Legacy Foundation was created to honor the memory of precious children who live in the stars, but had an enormous impact on those of us here.

After pregnancy and infant loss, many fathers feel like they have to be the strong one while carrying unimaginable grief of their own.

But dads grieve too.

Sometimes quietly.
Sometimes differently.
Sometimes in ways even their partners may not fully understand yet.

At this year’s Family Summit, Mark Terjesen will lead an important conversation about fatherhood, grief, mental health, and the unique ways fathers experience perinatal loss.

This session will also help partners better understand one another and learn ways to support each other with compassion through grief that may not always look the same.

This virtual event was created to offer support, education, and connection for bereaved adults and their loved ones navigating life after loss together.

Our incredible presenters all are professionals deeply passionate about pregnancy and infant loss, many of which sadly also have firsthand experience with losing a child.

We are incredibly grateful to see the Arkansas Chapter of Star Legacy Foundation recognized with a $5,000 donation to help expand resources for families impacted by pregnancy and infant loss. Founded by those who understand the heartbreak of losing a baby, the chapter has worked tirelessly to ensure that no family has to face this grief alone in memory of sweet Jack.

Through local support, education, and advocacy, they are building a community where families feel seen, supported, and remembered. Their advocacy in the community is impressive, and they plan to use this financial support to expand into more areas that support bereaved families such as local funeral homes.

A very special thank you to KARK 4 News’ parent company, Nexstar, for the generous donation. This June, Nexstar celebrated its Founder’s Day of Caring, and in honor of this celebration, Nexstar is donating $5,000 to 30 different charities over the 30 days; one of those non-profits that received a donation was the Arkansas Chapter of the Star Legacy Foundation.

Thank you, Danielle and Kim, for working tirelessly in honor of Jack. 🤍💫

One of the most meaningful things someone can do after the loss of a baby is simply remember that baby existed and is deeply loved. The gifts we receive in memory of our children are always cherished and hold memories that we carry forever. 🤍

We would love to hear your thoughtful gift ideas for a grieving mom in the comments below. What are some gifts you received that you hold close to your heart?

The compassion this community continues to show one another has been incredibly moving. We’ve received such beautiful feedback from families who have submitted questions, sharing how helpful, comforting, and healing your comments have been during some of their hardest days.

Thank you for continuing to show up for grieving families with such kindness and care.

If you have a question you’d like us to share anonymously with our community, please send us a DM. We would be honored to post it.

This May, we celebrated the second anniversary of the Star Legacy Foundation Memphis Chapter. 💙

Over the past two years, this chapter has turned pain into purpose in the most meaningful way. Through compassionate support, advocacy, education, and community connection, they have reached families and community members who need us the most. We are endlessly grateful for Jillvona and the incredible expertise, heart, and dedication she and her team bring to this work every single day.

This chapter exists in honor of Legend, whose life continues to leave an incredible impact on so many. Legends never die, and we are proud to continue honoring his meaningful life through the care and support this chapter provides to grieving families throughout the Memphis community.

To everyone who has supported this chapter over the last two years, thank you. It is an honor to walk alongside this community and to continue creating spaces where families feel seen, supported, and remembered. 💫
