✝️ More than 100 people representing dozens of parishes from the Diocese of Phoenix gathered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Scottsdale, Arizona, earlier this month to explore the value of radical hospitality. Rev. Stephen Wilbricht, C.S.C., of Stonehill College was on hand to share his insights.

“Radical hospitality is not simply making sure we have men and women stationed at the door, saying, ‘Welcome,’ giving a handshake, passing out a worship aid,” he noted. “It’s about being hospitable in a way that says, ‘I am willing to be changed through my encounter with another. I am willing to be vulnerable.’”

We were blessed to welcome Bishop Lumen Monteiro, C.S.C., Bishop of the Diocese of Agartala, India, during his visit to the Father Peyton Center.

Bishop Lumen celebrated Mass with our community, assisted by Deacon Hector Raymond, brother of the late Father W***y Raymond, C.S.C. Following his inspiring homily on today’s Readings, Bishop Lumen offered a moving tribute to Father W***y and his life of faithful service.

We are grateful for this special visit and the opportunity to pray and remember together.

A simple penny found in an empty church pew became a sign of divine reassurance, quieting Kevin Tondra’s doubts about marriage and vocation.

It was a warm June day. I’ll never forget walking into St. Mary Catholic Church in Akron, Ohio, after a long day working at the Graduate School at the University of Akron. I was 27 years old, and my wedding to my beautiful fiancée, Marnie, was only two months away.

We had been dating for five years — the last year engaged — while both finishing our degrees. Marnie earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, while I completed my master’s degree in counseling.

Looking back, though, our long engagement was about more than school schedules and tuition payments.
