An R.A. member shares:
"If our turn comes to speak at a meeting, we again try to carry A.A.'s message."
(A.A. Twelve and Twelve, p21)
"I'm tired." "I don't feel well." " I'm just listening." "My day hasn't been good." "I'/m having a relapse." "How tired I am." That's what I heard at an R.A. meeting.
What kind of message is that? It's not the program's message. It's not R.A's message. I know because I was in that meeting and I heard the leader say at least twice that we focus on the solution; that we were to share the solution in R.A.'s suggested literature, not our problems.
Complaining was not the path of the founders of the program. Complaining did not get them well. Focusing on the solution. Sharing the solution. Living in the solution: that's what got them well.
So you don't feel well. You're tired or depressed. The solution is the same. Get out of yourself and be useful to another human being. That's how to feel better.
It works -- it really does. Try it!
