The 2026 winter olympics are in full swing! When we watch the Olympics, we’re in good company—people in every country are watching and cheering right along with us. In our opinion, that spirit of global connection and hope is one of the coolest things about the Olympics.

Here’s a fun fact: Ever since the Cortina Olympics of 1956, the official sweaters of the Norwegian Olympic Ski Team have been designed by heritage knitwear brand Dale of Norway. This year, Dale has created a modern take on the 1956 Cortina sweater, reprising that classic blue-and-white geometric pattern into a jaunty red-and-white quarter zip.

Ingebretsens has both the 1956 and 2026 Cortina sweaters available on their site.

Historic win for Norwegian men's football!
For the first time in almost 30 years, the Norwegian Men's National Football Team have played their way to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team was treated to a hero's welcome upon their return to Norway, where more than 50,000 fans joined a jubilant celebration in downtown Oslo.
Fortunately, the Men's Team can get good advice on playing in the World Cup from the Norwegian Women's Team, which has played seven consecutive World Cups since 1999!

Standing with Ukraine.
Norway is now the largest contributor to the NATO program purchasing U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine.
This week, Norway announced additional funding bringing the total 2025 contribution to approximately $835 million. This funding will supply Ukraine with U.S.-made air defense, ammunition, and other equipment urgently needed. As Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has reiterated, Norway is committed to helping Ukraine achieve peace on its own terms.
Norway was also proud to co-sponsor the UN General Assembly resolution adopted on December 3 demanding that Russia ensure the immediate return of all Ukrainian children who have been forcibly deported.

Sentimental Value, the Norwegian film which is getting such raves, IS ON AT THE ROXY THEATRE NOW!!

Norway's Oscar submission for 2026 is "Sentimental Value" (Affeksjonsverdi). The film earned a 19-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May! The family drama centers on two very different sisters, their pompous Swedish filmmaker father, and a Hollywood star. It has been listed among the top 10 best picture contenders by the Los Angeles Times. - from The Norwegian American paper.
