✨ Happenings at the Learning Center! ✨

🎙️ Faith, Community & Conversation!

At this week’s Rotary Club meeting, Cathy Grafton welcomed her nephew, Joshua Grafton, who shared an exciting project connecting faith and modern technology! 🎧

Josh, along with Pastor Eric Edwards and Andrew McCarty of St. John Lutheran Church in East Liverpool, launched a podcast earlier this year titled “Grace, Love and Service.”

Released biweekly, the podcast features conversations about personal faith journeys, deeper discussions of Sunday sermons, and messages centered around sharing the gospel.

Josh also highlighted the teamwork behind the project, with several church members contributing their talents to the podcast’s music, artwork, and production.

We love seeing our Learning Center serve as a gathering place where community members can share their passions, projects, and creative ideas.

📍 Happenings at the Center!

🛶 From kayaking adventures to a sweet and salty snack, this week’s East Liverpool Rotary Club meeting highlighted some local entrepreneurial spirit!

Rotarian Laura Reed welcomed guest Michael McCoy, owner of The YAK GUY, a local kayak rental business.

While growing his business, Michael noticed something his customers were missing — a snack to enjoy during their time on the water! 🍿

That simple observation sparked another business venture, River Crunch, a homemade sweet and salty kettle corn!

What started as a treat for kayakers has grown into a product available at local vendor events and through partnerships with several area stores.

We love seeing local entrepreneurs turn creative ideas into thriving opportunities right here in our community! 👏

📚 The Legends & Lecture Series continues in October!

Join us Tuesday, October 13 at 7:00 PM at the East Liverpool Community & Learning Center as we welcome back Craig Wetzel for his fourth Legends presentation!

A local artist, humorist, and businessman, Craig has become a familiar face in our series, and we’re excited to have him return.

🇺🇸 In celebration of our country’s 250th birthday, Craig will present:

“The Story of a Book”

Come spend an evening with us enjoying local talent, storytelling, history, and community.

🐾 Happenings at the Learning Center! 🐾

This week, the East Liverpool Rotary Club welcomed Erica Richter, President of Riverview APL, as the guest of Rotarian Dr. Jeff Caldwell.

Erica shared an exciting update about efforts to bring a Humane Society to East Liverpool! 🐕🐈‍⬛

The organization has acquired the former Credit Bureau building in downtown East Liverpool, which will serve as its headquarters. Renovations are planned over the coming year, with hopes of opening the doors once the building is ready.

It’s always wonderful to see our Learning Center filled with conversations about projects and people working to make a positive difference in our community. ❤️

We love seeing the connections that happen right here at the Center! 💙

At this week’s East Liverpool Rotary meeting, members welcomed Scott Lewis and Lisa Vittorio of The Brightside Project to share more about the incredible work they’re doing for children in our area. ☀️🚌

From programs that empower and encourage kids to the Sunshine Bus making stops right here in our community, it’s always wonderful to learn more about the people and organizations making a difference.

The event will benefit the ELHS Stage Door Society and will feature tons of vendors, concessions, Chinese auction items and plenty of holiday shopping!

📚 Our Legacy & Legends Lecture Series is Back for its 11th Season!

For more than a decade, the East Liverpool Community & Learning Center has welcomed our community together to learn, laugh, and celebrate the people, places, and stories that make our region so special.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the Legacy & Legends Lecture Series has raised more than $40,000 for the Center. Those funds have helped make important improvements—like our new entrance and handicap ramp—and continue to support the many programs and services offered throughout the year.

As we begin another exciting season, we’re asking our loyal supporters to consider a $100 donation to help keep this tradition going. Every contribution helps preserve local history, bring outstanding presenters to our community, and ensure these programs remain available for everyone to enjoy.

✨ Our 2026–2027 lineup includes:

📖 September 8 – Historian Gene Kroty explores “Who in the Heck is Marcus Hanna?” and the fascinating story behind the man who helped elect President William McKinley.

🎨 October 13 – Returning favorite Craig Wetzel presents “The Story of a Book” as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

📰 November 17 – Author Fred Miller returns with “The Greatest Columns Ever Written.”

🇺🇸 March 9, 2027 – Linda Henderson shares “Signing Their Lives Away,” revealing what became of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

🗂️ April 27 – Archivist Linda McCoy from the Columbiana County Archives & Research Center discusses how local archives can help uncover your family’s history.

🎭 May 25 – By popular demand, Eddie Murphy returns to portray abolitionist and women’s rights advocate Sojourner Truth in what promises to be another unforgettable performance.

☕ Lectures are typically held on Tuesday evenings in the Farmers Room, with refreshments beginning at 6:30 p.m. and presentations starting at 7:00 p.m.
