Members of the East Liverpool Rotary Club pose under the newly installed patriotic umbrellas in Umbrella Alley in downtown East Liverpool. ☂️

Rotarians were accompanied by East Liverpool Garden Club Members (seated, from left) Mary Beth Gill and Sally Haines. Standing behind Gill is her husband, Mike. The Rotary Club gave a donation that went towards the purchase of the new umbrellas. The display is in honor of the Fourth of July and in recognition of East Liverpool being named an America 250 city. 🇺🇸A celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of America will be held downtown Saturday, July 11. ❤️🤍💙


Mike and Mary Beth Gill spearheaded the creation of Umbrella Alley about 5 years ago. Mary Beth was named a Hometown Hero in 2022 by WYTV News in recognition of her hard work. 👏🏻 👏🏻

Max Popovich, a student at the Buckeye Online School for Success (BOSS), spoke to our club at this week’s meeting. Max is a member of our Interact Club and he was selected to participate in this year’s RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) program which was held in January.

We loved hearing about how much Max grew from the experience and that he had such a good time! 💙💛

Rotarian Mike Sigler had the program at this week’s meeting and invited an extra special guest, K9 Solace from the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department. 🐾 🚒

Solace was accompanied by her handler Fire Chief Dave McCoy and Lieutenant Randy Schneider. McCoy and Schneider talked about the formation of the K9 program within the department and discussed Solace’s abilities as a search and rescue and cadaver dog. 🐕 🔦

At this week’s meeting Rotarian Sue Giambroni welcomed her guest, local businessman Eli Murphy and his daughter, Maggie. Eli spoke about his business Wise Buys Kitchen, Bath and Floors and the Wise Society that he has recently established. 🦉

He gave a motivational speech, emphasizing the united goal we all have of wanting to help others in need. He touched on his renovation of the former McCrory’s building downtown as well and his goal of it becoming a place of community. 🤝❤️
