On Friday May 8th at the conclusion of National Construction Safety Week during the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month Laborers’ Local Union 455 along with partners from within and outside of the construction industry came together to sign an important Memorandum of Understanding titled Foundations for Wellness. This MOU establishes guiding principles for mental health, substance abuse, and su***de prevention.
The amount of anxiety our members and other construction workers face has led to:
•Over 6,000 construction workers die by su***de per year.
•The number of construction workers that die from opioid use and other controlled substances is 6x greater than any other industry.
At Laborers’ Local 455 the safety and well being of our members is our single biggest concern.
Laborers’ 455 is proud to stand with our partners in construction, workforce development, and healthcare to sign and bring this MOU into the construction workplace.
