Saturday afternoon and evening, June 13th sure proved to be a wonderful day to be proud of our Dunkirk Elks Lodge!
The day began with a second Saturday of the month "bonus breakfast" that was a fundraiser for local girl's softball.
The afternoon kicked off with an Elks Homecoming which was an open to the public event.
There was a "bouncy house" inflatable kids attraction in the front yard plainly visible to the street which drew in kids from all over our community.
The weather was just about as perfect as you could ask for, with lower humidity and temperatures and a nice breeze.
Speaking of the breeze, a beautiful Flag Day ceremony was held and during the ceremony that breeze really cooperated by making our Nation's majestic Flag fly proudly as we gathered around the Flagpole and front yard to honor it
The public who attended saw a freshly updated and vibrant Lodge that stands as a beacon of benevolence to the entire surrounding community.
Much good flows freely from the valiant efforts of all Dunkirk Elks Members to provide continued support for area youth, Veterans and all who fall under those gracious antlers of protection.
I'm as proud of our local Elks Lodge today as I was the day I joined, years ago, and truthfully even more so now because I am much more cognizant of how great it is to have a team who all assists to move us forward in a positive manner.
Volunteerism is the name of our game and we are so appreciative of all of the tireless efforts that go into each and everything we do.
Thank you to ALL who make it happen.
A lot of it goes on well out of the spotlight and behind the scenes.
It does NOT go unnoticed.
As an added bonus, Our brand new Indiana Elks State President and HER First Gentleman paid us a surprise visit.
I personally cannot possibly think of a finer couple to shatter the glass ceiling and be our very first Female Indiana Elks State President and First Gentleman in the entire storied history of The Benevolent And Protective Order Of The Elks!!
Thankfully, Indiana Elks State President Angie O'Donnell arrived to see a very active Elks Lodge that was really firing on all cylinders on this wondrous event, showcasing a Crown Jewel Of The District.
I, for one, am very proud to be An Elk on every day, but this day was truly special indeed!!!
