🌧️ Sometimes a little drizzle is exactly what the garden needs!

Today, Ernie was applying beneficial nematodes during light, misty conditions—perfect timing for these microscopic allies. Moist soil and cloudy weather help nematodes move through the ground and protect them from drying out, giving them the best chance to find and control harmful soil-dwelling pests.

Beneficial nematodes are a natural, organic form of biological pest control. They target insect larvae like grubs and fungus gnat larvae while remaining safe for people, pets, plants, pollinators, and earthworms. Instead of relying solely on chemical pesticides, we’re using nature’s own tools to keep our gardens healthy and thriving.

It’s just one more way Think Ability is committed to sustainable growing practices and producing healthy plants the natural way. 🌱

These guys are as cool as cucumbers. 🥒😎

Ernie and Tim spent the day bringing in a beautiful harvest of fresh cucumbers and squash from our Pecan Garden. We’re proud of the hard work they put in to help grow food for our community!

Michael has been working so hard making Think Ability Potting Soil that he finally wore out the mixer!

Not one to let a problem slow him down, Michael grabbed the tools from his toolbox and got to work. By 9:00 AM, the mixer was repaired and back in action.

We’re proud of Michael’s dedication, problem-solving skills, and work ethic. Great job, Michael!

A big shoutout to Michael for a job well done!

Over the last month, Michael has taken on several new roles in the garden and has become our official “Garden Gatekeeper,” consistently opening the garden at sunrise and closing it at sundown.

He is also our daily soil maker — producing the soil we sell out front as well as the specialty soil used for our in-house plants and microgreens.

Michael continues to show a willingness to step outside of his comfort zone and go above and beyond. From helping customers find the perfect herbs to recently stepping in and successfully covering weekend microgreens watering, he has been an incredible team player.

Michael is truly the man behind the scenes helping keep everything running smoothly, and we want to recognize and thank him for his hard work, dedication, and positive attitude. Great job, Michael! 👏🌱

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Scout Troop 4434 of Duncan, Oklahoma, for helping us kick off our planting season at the Think Ability Community Garden.

These outstanding young men generously volunteered their time, working alongside the individuals we serve to plant more than 900 feet of okra, peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Their dedication, teamwork, and spirit of service truly reflect the values of scouting and community engagement.

We are incredibly thankful for their support and look forward to welcoming our new friends back at harvest time!

Our soil is made using only OMRI-listed inputs and is produced entirely by individuals with developmental disabilities, creating meaningful employment opportunities within our community. This partnership represents an important step in our continued growth and mission.
