Their artworks, including Seagulls by Kimberly Pruitt Reed (shown below), have been accepted into the Johns Creek Art Center’s 12th Annual Juried "Summer Serendipity" Exhibition, on display July 27–August 29.

I love the idea of stasis, which is comical. When has anyone’s life really stayed the same from one moment to another?
Decision-making is hardly my super power, but I have recently decided (after a ridiculous amount of navel-gazing and input from trusted friends) to narrow the scope of my business. From now on, ordering a rendering of a home will no longer be an option from my web site. This was a tough call, because it is the source of easily 75% of my income. I’ve decided that life is too short to be hunched over my drawing board with my nose practically touching the paper, trying to figure out just how finely I can sharpen a pencil point as I draw shingles and bricks. I will be turning my attention and energy to sharpening my portraiture skills instead. I’m looking forward to creating more organic forms as I paint and draw the faces of beloved people and pets.
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement over the years. I am genuinely excited about this next chapter in my artistic life as I focus my training and education only on things with eyeballs!

Celebrating 20 Years of Creativity!
We’re excited to share that Laura Fried Heck, along with other DFAL members, will have their arts featured in the Norcross Shapes 20th Anniversary Art Exhibition & Silent Auction at Norcross Gallery & Studios.
Supporting the gallery’s nonprofit mission, the show runs August 27 – October 10.
Come out, enjoy the art, and celebrate this milestone with Laura and the Norcross arts community. The gallery's hours are 11am - 4pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

I have always enjoyed framing the world in unique ways with photography. Ever since my Dad gave me his old camera as a teen, I have enjoyed exploring Other Ways of Seeing. I’ve worked in a variety of genres: sports, landscape, nature, portrait, documentary, abstract, and night photography.

After moving to the Atlanta area in 2000, David signed up for a pottery class, never imagining he’d actually stick with a full 8‑week session. Now, 26 years later, he’s still happily “stuck in the mud.” When he grew tired of the usual round, blue‑green‑brown forms, he began taking workshops to explore surface design and sculpture, opening up a whole new creative direction.

Since retiring from his “real job” in 2022, David has become a familiar face in the pottery studio at Pinckneyville Community Center. He also teaches a Beginning Clay and Sculpture class at Suwanee Clayworks. Around town, he’s best known as Mayor Shiner’s dad — and part of the mayor’s unofficial administrative staff.

Join us as we kick off the year with David’s story, humor, and artistry!
