We’re proud to announce that Duluth High School has chosen Kate Grau as the recipient of DFAL’s 2026 Lucile Walker Fine Arts Scholarship — a fund established in 2023 by Lucile Walker’s family in her memory. With an extraordinary group of applicants, the school expanded its committee — and still found the decision incredibly difficult.

The DHS committee shared that Kate richly deserves this recognition. Her arts area, Technical Theater, is a first for this scholarship, and her contributions, passion, and accomplishments made her shine.

Last night at our monthly meeting, DFAL was honored to present Kate with her scholarship check and wish her well as she begins an exciting next chapter at Brenau University this fall, where she will pursue her BFA in Theatre Tech and Design. Congratulations, Kate!

What an amazing Art Talk tonight!
Ashley Lynch, DFAL’s incoming President, took us through his photography journey — the learning, the discoveries, the heartfelt moments, and the spark that fuels his creativity.
The room was packed, the applause kept rolling, and the evening wrapped up with a joyful gathering at Niko's Wine Cellar .

DFAL is honored to invest in the next generation of artists!

On May 11, we presented a check to Coleman Middle School’s Arts Department, and today, May 20, we shared another with Duluth Middle School’s Fine Arts Department.

A huge thank‑you to N. Harris, M. Molloy, E. Sumner, J. Fuchs, K. Montgomery, B. Ehly, A. Molloy, and the amazing art teachers at both schools — you made these events very special.

Here’s to creativity, opportunity, and thriving art programs in our community!
