Yesterday, our club had the privilege of taking a vocational tour of Rainbow Village, where we learned more about the incredible work their team is doing to support unhoused families in Gwinnett County.

From transitional housing to financial guidance and long-term support services, Rainbow Village is truly helping families rebuild stability and get back on their feet.

We were also honored to present a $5,000 donation to support their continued mission and the life-changing work they do every day.

Grateful for the opportunity to see their impact firsthand and to support such an important organization in our community.

This week, we were honored to welcome Dr. Allen Bowns of the Johns Creek Rotary Club — and future District Governor — who shared about his incredible therapy dog program.

While Dr. Allen gave us great insight into what it takes to run the program, it’s safe to say Choco was the real star of the show. 🐶✨

The program is entirely volunteer-based, and both handler and dog go through extensive certification and testing to serve. Choco’s impact is far-reaching — visiting college campuses during exam week, comforting nervous patients at Dr. Allen’s dental office, spending time in senior and assisted living facilities, supporting orphanages, working alongside first responders, and even helping children with PTSD from past dog trauma learn to trust and love dogs again.

It was a powerful reminder that service comes in many forms — sometimes with a wagging tail. 💛

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Karen Ramsey, Executive Director of the Gwinnett Housing Corporation and the Lawrenceville Housing Authority.

Karen shared insights into the impactful work happening across Gwinnett County — from developing small, affordable housing communities to renovating extended-stay properties into safe, stable places families can truly call home.

Her leadership and dedication are helping create real solutions for housing in our community, and the difference she is making is nothing short of inspiring.

Thank you, Karen, for your commitment to serving Gwinnett in such a meaningful way!

This last week was all about service, creativity, and community — and our club showed up in a big way.

🎭 Rotary, The Musical made its debut thanks to the incredible creative talents of Jody and Kristina, with help from Cindy and Carlos. Through music and storytelling, they brought Rotary’s mission to life — from founder Paul Harris, to women joining Rotary, to the birth of our own club. It was educational, entertaining, and they truly hit it out of the park!

🍽️ We also rolled up our sleeves for a Rise Against Hunger service project alongside other local Rotary clubs, packing meals to help ensure no child goes without food. Last year’s effort supported children in Ukraine, and we’re excited to see where this year’s meals will make an impact.

🏆 And finally, a huge congratulations to Ginger Powell, who was honored by the Gwinnett Chamber with a Public Service Award. Ginger currently serves as Rotary District 6910 Area Governor and is deeply involved in numerous community organizations. She embodies what it means to be a true Rotarian, and we couldn’t be prouder to call her one of our own.

Weeks like this remind us why Rotary matters. 💫

This week, our club welcomed Dr. Justin Cantrell, astronomer, who took us on a fascinating journey through the universe. From how many stars host multiple planets and what exactly an exoplanet is, to how scientists measure the vastness of space (yes, a parsec is a real unit of distance — thanks, Millennium Falcon), it was truly mind-expanding.

We also explored the possibility of life beyond Earth. While it doesn’t look like little green men will be stopping by anytime soon, one thing is clear: we’re probably not alone out there.

Thank you, Dr. Cantrell, for helping us look a little further into the stars! ✨

This week, our club welcomed Erin Hanson, Co-Founder & CEO of Guardian Sports LLC. Founded in 2011 by Erin and Lee Hanson—both veterans in material science—Guardian Sports has redefined athletic protection through cutting-edge innovation and engineering.

Erin shared how Guardian’s products are designed to help keep athletes safe throughout their entire journey, from pee-wee leagues to college and beyond. Now expanding beyond football into other sports, Guardian Sports is truly changing the game when it comes to athlete safety.

Thank you, Erin, for an inspiring and informative presentation!

This week, our club welcomed Randy Travis — investigative journalist (and not the country singer!) — who shared insights from his fascinating career in investigative reporting.

Randy spoke about the cases he’s helped break and the impact investigative journalism can have, from helping states and counties re-evaluate field testing results to uncovering a case where a judge found happy hour more compelling than holding court.

He also shared where to find unbiased news sources in today’s media landscape, giving us valuable perspective on staying informed in a changing world.

Thank you, Randy, for an engaging and eye-opening conversation!

We are back after a wonderful holiday season filled with friends and family!

This week, our club spent time reflecting on past resolutions and how we can create more intentional goals moving forward. While resolutions can sometimes feel like a “to-do list written while drunk… on hope,” they also remind us of what truly matters.

So naturally, our club set some Rotary-style resolutions for the year ahead:
📋 Be more organized like Ginger
✈️ Travel more like Ron
💪 Be a total bad ass like Bill Shaver
🌱 Persevere more like Al
🌲 Get outside more like Ken
😂 Laugh more like Robin
❤️ Value family more like Ayesha
🎉 Make more time for fun like Jody & Kristina

Here’s to a year of growth, joy, and a little extra laughter along the way! 🥂
